little devil's tower trail

This trail is a shorter, but more strenuous then the Harney Peak trails. The view is absolutely incredible from the top. You can see things from the top that you can not see from Harney Peak. Harney peak is close by and I love that trail too. In fact you can see the people on top of Harney peak. Bring your binoculars and your cell phone. (You have cell coverage up there)

This trail is like the Harney Peak trail without the walk through the forest. The trail leads uphill almost immediately from the trail head and with the pine beetle killing a lot of the pine trees shade on the trail is not abundant. The trail is park rated strenuous and for the most part is uphill with some scrambling at the end to reach the peak. You can see the fire lookout at Harney Peak, as well as spires and the grasslands to the east and I think the town of Custer to the south. Awesome hike.
