I love cemeteries, there is something peaceful about them. However, that is not the case in Deadwood, their past is a scary and violent one, so the touchstone tell a story of these actions. Set on a hill over looking Deadwood, you will find graves of the famous and unfortunate. It doesn't take long to look around a realize our good fortune to be living today.

We went during mid February so snow was on the ground and we were not properly attired for hiking and in the snow. But it is a must visit spot if you know the history of deadwood. The hike come in if you wanna visit Seth bullocks resting place which is not in the cemetery its further up a service road. After slipping and falling on the snow and slushy ice we made it not only was I outta shape but so worth the hike and the view from the top was breath taking! Now to nurse by bruised knee and soar legs. Must do!

Wonderful views on top of Deadwood at this cemetery full of history. If you like to exercise and can take a straight up hill walk. If not drive and enjoy short walk to graves of both. Very historical and informative. Only a dollar or donation.

This is a really cool cemetary, complete with visitors center. Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok and other famous old west grave sites are worth the time to visit. Very hilly, but well maintained and walkways are very good. A must see in Deadwood.

The graves of Wild Bill, Calamity Jane and their buddy were worth the uphill walk. The trinkets placed on the gravesites were quite amusing. The staff members are very nice. I was hunting for some geocaches and they were helpful.

Great views from the cemetery. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried here. We found beautiful wildlife in the cemetery along with the history.

I lived in a small house right outside the entrance to Mouth Moriah Cemetery for a year in the 1990s. During the summer months, there is a steady stream of people wandering through the gates and up the pathway to visit the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok. Like many birthplace and burial sites of famous people, visitors here get to learn a little of the history of the area and one of its most colourful characters

When you purchase your ticket to go into the cemetery they give you a map so you can find all the famous gravesites. Most of them are easy to find however Seth bullock a little bit of a hike outside the cemetery and you go up under road to get to it. You can get very great views from the cemetery looking down on deadwood. There were a lot of deer and their babies walking around the cemetery. They have a nice gift shop and they also have storyboards in the gift shop explaining some of the history

Grave decisions needed to be made and most of them where made by the occupants of this cemetry - whether it was for good or bad!!! Occupants include Calamiity Jane, Seth Bullock and Wild Bill Hiccok. But take some time to walk amongst and graves (map and guide available) and glimpse snapshots from a time that seems so removed from ours and glimpse at peoples past lives. The cemetry is set upon a hillside and gives some spectacular views of the surrounding area and Deadwood.

Peaceful, treed cemetery on Mt Moriah just outside of town. Historically interesting. Even the local white tail deer seemed to enjoy its charms.

We took a tour, since I did not want to bother with looking up the cemetery and looking up parking. The tour did not teach us anything we did not already know, but it was entertaining nevertheless, thanks to the witty guide. Wild Bill Hickok (shot in the back by an assassin), Calamity Jane (ever wonder where her nickname came from?), Potato Creek Johnny (so called because of the potato-sized chunk of gold he found), Poker Alice and Sheriff Seth Bullock are all buried here. And, surprisingly, people leave coins on the graves, coins supposed to bring them good luck! Oh, well.

The Mt. Moriah Cemetery, located in Deadwood, South Dakota, is the final resting place of two of the most famous icons of the Wild West, Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. You can pick up a Walking Tour Guide of the cemetery, which outlines several "famous" headstones in the park. You will pay an entrance fee of $1. Starting out on David Street, the headstones of Bill and Jane are a close walking distance to the entrance of the cemetery (between Boaz Street and Darius Street on the cemetery map). Retrace your steps back to David Street to Calvary for a panoramic view of Deadwood and surrounding area (4802 feet elevation). The cemetery is also a stop on the local trolley tour if you do not want to walk to the cemetery which is a little steep.

Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane are buried side by side here. Nice well maintained cemetery with a good gift shop and friendly staff. On a pretty steep hillside. Nice place to visit.
