We stopped in for a little wine tasting in the area and we were amazed by the view from the tasting room. The vineyard seemed a bit small, but the winery was very nice and I wish the weather was warmer so that we could walk around a bit. The wine was ok and the lady that was serving us was obviously ready to go home and engaged in conversation with other members of the staff. We would have enjoyed the visit a bit more if we had a better experience with the server. On the other hand, the other ladies at the counter were very nice and happily engaged with the customers.

If you go try to avoid the young blond haired girl and you might actually enjoy your visit. Had i read the reviews I would have waited for someone else to give us our tasting. She rushed everything and it felt like all she wanted to do was leave work and we were a hassle. The wines are sub-par compared to other NC area vineyards and are very light, watered down versions of what they should be. Not for me. Would not return nor recommend. Only thing we enjoyed was the view which is breathtaking. Looks like they are in the process of expanding by adding another building.

We visited this place today and were very impressed. The facility sits on top of Stone Mountain, and the roads are somewhat full of treacherous potholes so be wary. They run tours on a regular basis and a tasting is very reasonably priced. The break it down to "SWEET" (mostly muscadine and fruit wines) or "DRY" (the traditional European wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, etc. We prefer the dry so that's all I can attest to. We had brought our lunch so after the tasting we opted for a bottle of very good Pinot Grigio ($12) and purchased a cheese plate ($5) to supplement what we had brought. They have an enclosed patio area that is heated and an open air deck with table and umbrellas in the warmer area. They also have large round tables inside that are there for your enjoyment. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine and food before leaving to return home an hour away. We loved the setting, the wine, the view - the makings of a perfect afternoon.

SCORED A COUPON FOR A TOUR, WINE TASTING, BOTTLE OF WINE AND TWO GLASSES. What a great deal. Our tour guide was the son of the owner. His sister was working the tasting counter. His dad stopped by while we were there. The tour was really fun, much more personal than any of the many tours I have taken elsewhere in N.C., Ohio, and Napa. The wine was surprisingly good for the money and we brought home 5 bottles and memories of a good day. We plan to go back, probably in the fall, because the views from the tasting room are outstanding!

This winery gets points for the view! You actually feel as if you are in the Blue Ridge Mountainsbecause the view is so awesome, especially in the fall. Points get taken away because the roadgetting to the winery has the biggest potholes I've ever seen. The wines are good, but not really any better than any I've tasted anyplace else. The day I was there was late afternoon and the place was not crowded but the person who did the tasting was merely pouring wines. She didn'treally know much about it other than she was able to read the label. I did buy two bottles of onewine that I really liked and when I got home, it was not even close to what I had tasted. This isn't one winery I'll make a return visit to.

We visited Stony Mountain Winery the Saturday after Thanksgiving as a part of a 5 winery wine trail we created east of Charlotte, NC. We were a bit skeptical on the drive up and thought maybe it was not there until all of a sudden we arrived to an amazing view and a very comfortable winery. There was lots of room and a beautiful view on the outside patio. They have quite a large tour on a Saturday but we were just there for the tasting. The wines were good, reds, sweets, etc. and we purchased a bottle to sip on the patio. They also have a chees plate for purchase. Make the effort to get to the top and find this winery. It is so worth the view!

Stony Mountain Vineyards is the very best choice I made for my wedding, besides my groom, lol. We had both the ceremony and reception here and it was spectacular. The scenery, atmosphere, and overall experience was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding. Thank you Laura for your imput and knowledge of how weddings should run in the modern era. It was greatly appreciated. Their wine list is great for beginner drinkers as well as the more experienced! Thank you so much Stony Mountain Vineyards!!!!xoxo,Brittany and Dwayne Elliott

Rustic winery with a fantastic view. Fun thing to do, nice selection of wines as part of their $7 tasting. Great stop on the way to dinner somewhere. Not fancy, but if you can go on a nice fall day, sit on the balcony sipping a good wine looking out at the changing leaves in the valleys and foothills...worth it. The Berry/merlot blend was good.

The place was really small and not alot to look at. If you want a quiet place to visit this may work for you. The wine tasting was okay, i had expected more enthusiasm from bartender. Also because of the season we visited in there were yellow jackets everywhere, even in our car, so i was unable to relax and enjoy myself. This place left alot to be desired.

This venue is a beautiful scenic location and nice outside-the atmosphere is inside is a little less inviting! Per previous reviews, Laura, the blonde bartender/owners daughter has the demeanor of a some sour grapes (no pun intended). One of my best friends was having her wedding there at 6pm on a Saturday and me along with the bride and two other bridesmaid arrived by 2 to set up and decorate in hopes of having at least a few hours left to get ready-little did we or the bride for that matter know we would have to work around a LARGE group of wine tasting and tour guests. The female owner seemed agitated with us because we had stuff in the kitchen and couldn't move it until we could decorate although I will say she was helpful in fix the massive bee situation going on outside where the wedding was going to be. Then the room we were given to get ready in had a see through glass door and also a window to the entrance of the building-also this room was where the two public bathrooms were-the room was big enough for maybe 3 people and in my opinion if you are going to offer services like hosting weddings there should be a private area that the bride and her bridal party can get ready in. Laura got angry and said someone from our party had moved a picture from the bathroom and also questioned me as to why I took a mirror down and used it. I had asked her dad (the owner) if I could use the mirror outside of the bathroom in the room and he said yes-the whole thing was a cluster of inconvenience! Due to having to work around all the wine tour/wine tasting patrons, the small space to get ready in, and just the overall inconvenience-the wedding didn't start until almost 6:45 which prevented us from having any outdoor pictures with the vineyard in the background because it had gotten dark by ceremony end. The whole reason you get married at a vineyard is for wine and beautiful pictures-I won't say the wine isn't good because the blackberry wine was GREAT!The bride was never asked if she needed anything throughout the day, the groom was given attitude by Laura throughout the night along with SEVERAL other guests including myself when she said I was showing a lot of stupiditiy when I didn't take a full trash can out and threw something on it, then she kept on with her rude antics and when I decided to say something to her she basically blasted me and told me "take my diva butt out the door and not ever come back on her property"-there were plenty of witnesses to this little blow up between her and I and I told her that her customer service and etiquette overall SUCKED. Also she spent a good bit of the night away from the bar and was in the kitchen area eating the salad the BRIDE bought for her guests and complaining to the person we had help with food that "tea was the only non alcoholic beverage and that was stupid"-another guest told me she was sitting outside when Laura came outside and asked her why she was being anti social and that she wouldn't blame her for being anti social "with that group in there". This is the OWNERS DAUGHTER for goodness sakes is there no filter?! Honestly after that experience I would never recommend this place to anyone I care about due to the hostile service and unprofessional demeanor and presentation for a wedding. As a part-time weddings and event planner I have been to a lot of different venues including wineries and none where a bride has to get dressed in a bathroom with a urinal or have her wedding party treated with such disrespect!Do not get me wrong the vineyard overall is gorgeous and worth seeing but I'd recommend going when a friendlier staff is there otherwise don't waste your time, money, or gas!!!

My sister and I visited the vineyard on Saturday. Danson gave an informative tour and the views were beautiful. It is a stony mountain top! The wine tasting had several fruit flavors, including peach and blackberry.

great establishment, great views, so-so wine. the staff was very helpful and friendly. came here after hiking in the mountains. was nice, more than likely will not visit again, wine was not good, like all the others in the central carolina region.

The wine tasting in and of itself was informative. The gentleman catered to our tastes and gave great descriptions of the wines and made good conversation while doing so. Then, the tour with the son was so entertaining. Not only was he knowledgeable, but he also spruced it up with humor. Last, hands down THE best blackberry wine I've ever had. Ever.

My daughter and I went for the tour and tasting last fall and really enjoyed our time there. As others have said, it is in a gorgeous setting overlooking the Uwharrie Mountains and the decks are so relaxing! Wine was excellent, we learned a lot about wine making on the tour and the way the grapes are grown. Would be a beautiful place for a wedding and/or reception.

My husband and I decided to try out Stony Mountain Vineyards after hearing wonderful things about it. The location is gorgeous, overlooking the Uwharrie valley with 2 nice-sized porches to enjoy your wine purchase. Unfortunately, the service was horrendous. The girl doing our tasting was moody and unfriendly. She had nothing to say about the wines, and when I asked about a few particular varietals, she stated that they don't grow most of their grapes, and I that if I knew anything about wine I should know that some grapes don't grow in North Carolina. I was flabbergasted by her rudeness. We ended up getting a bottle anyhow so that we could sit and enjoy the view, and when we asked for a cheese and cracker plate, we were told they were out. I asked if we could just had crackers, and she took a bowl of oyster crackers from a couple who was standing at the bar doing a tasting and slid them across to me. Needless to say, we will never be visiting Stony Mountain again.
