Very nice facility, but nicely tailored for informing fans about every aspect of building a race car. Excellent personal tour (FREE!) around to the assembly shop in the back and viewing of pit stop practice. If you want to visit shops in the area, make this the first stop and plan to spend a couple of hours. On Monday there is a movie, so call ahead for details!

From Phoenix on business we happened to walk into the facility and immediately we were welcomed by Dean. Such a wonderful man. Answered all our questioned and so much more. Dean went out of his way to make us feel special. Mr. Waltrip happened to be there that day and came out to greet us. He was such a nice guy. I'll never forget the experience. Watching the shop work in front of our eyes was so much fun. The guys are truly dedicated and it shows. Any Nascar fan would appreciate this experience of a lifetime. Thank you Michael Waltrip! Thank you Dean!

We feel MWR has a ways to go with getting the best shop. Not as clean cut as other shops but has character. MWR is fairly new and changes in the organization probably has an impact on the shop. I would not miss it but on the other hand not be hurt if I could not see it. The extra cost is not worth it.

I'm not a big fan of Michael Waltrip, But still decided to check out the race shop. I have heard that they charge to see the race shop, but i guess that they don't anymore. You go up stairs and to the walkway looking over the huge race shop. You can take a tour with a guide but i didn't have time to do that because had to get to the airport to head home after the race weekend at Charlotte. But if you like to check out the NASCAR race shop it worth a stop by.

It's nice to see the entire race shop from above and great to get a little tour of the place too. Plus friendly staff!

We had a great tour of the facility with Dean. You can walk on the walkway above the shop and watch employees working on cars. It was definitely the best way to see a race shop. The only day we could go was on a Friday afternoon so it was fairly quiet, but I would go back again. The facility is very clean and everyone was friendly.

Being from India, I do not follow NASCAR. Formula 1 and MOTOGP is more my thing. But when I visited Cornelius recently, I heard about Michael Waltrip Racing on trip advisor and decided to go check it out for myself. It was totally worth my time. You get to have a tour of the entire facility with certain parts being self guided and the other parts with an expert tour guide who knows his NASCAR racing to the letter. And the best part of all this is that tour costs you nothing. You get to see how a car is built and get a feel of all the work that goes on behind the scenes. I really liked the tour and the gentleman who was our tour guide was really knowledgeable about NASCAR and its history. He patiently answered all questions even from people like me who knew very little about the sport. Its a must visit for all ages and you will definitely not regret it!

We've been a couple of times with friends from Ohio who love NASCAR and with the Step Daughter and her family from PA.First time we went was when Micheal opened his shop a number of years ago but have been back probably six of seven times since. The most recent was during Speed Week prior to the Coca Cola 600 in May.It''s a fun experience and even though I've been many times, it never get's old. They always strive to present a different side each year and keep it fresh. What impresses visitors most is the overlook areas of the shop floor and how clear everything is.Very educational but at the same time, a great experience.

This was a great place to visit. We were greeted at the door, and everyone we met was pleasant & helpful. There is a walkway above the work areas, so we could see the cars and parts they were working on. We also went on a walking tour where we were able to see in the second building where they build the car bodies. If you time it right, you may see the pit crew practicing. Getting to go on one of the transport trucks was also an interesting plus. If you go in the theater, you can see answers to questions asked by fans. They have some used car parts you can buy if you collect or want to decorate with that type of thing.

My husband and I visited MWR this week. WOW,what an experience. Great access and views from the overhead area. Best part was the tour of the haulers, fab shop and the area where they train the pit crews. MWR is the only shop that gives these tours. There was a training session in progress and it was amazing to watch. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.I did not know that mwr trains pit crews for other teams. Very worth while to take time to visit MWR. You will not be sorry.

I had no idea this was all here, what a great place. It is my favorite of all the race shops, you walk up to a second level where the store is located. From there you have great views of different shop sections where they do the work. Keep walking and you get to a second story cat-walk that does not have glass around it, and it goes straight through the center of the race shop where the chassis are kept and worked on. You are so close you can hear the work being done, and take as many pictures as you like. It is not a very long visit and it is not open on the weekend, but make a stop there when you have 30-60 minutes to burn.

Had a great time. Great overall experience. Plenty of excellent shop and floor views along with an exceptional guided tour of the haulers, chassis shop and pit training area. The race shop store was very nice with some exceptional values. Easy access even for my 40' MH and towed vehicle, less than 1/2 mile off I-77

This was the best Race Shop experience of the group. We visited Stewart-Haas, Gibbs, KBM & MWR and by far MWR gave the fans the greatest access and views into what Race Shops are all about. I am a Stewart fan, so just goes to show you how great the access at MWR is. There is an open air overhead catwalk that allows walking and views of the different areas of the shops instead of trying to look through glass at a small portion of a giant building, which was the norm. Even got to see Michael walking around, but unfortunately it was the same day they announced the layoffs from the 56 car so it wasnt the best time to try to ask for a picture or autograph. Definitely worth the trip to get a real look at a race shop.

Probably the best race shop in the area for really getting to see all the work that goes into the cars. Great views of the shop areas and you can even take a tour which is awesome. Love this race shop. Even if you are not one of their fans you will really get a lot out of visiting this shop more than any of the others.

My wife and I drove down to Mooresville from Toronto Canada. Our vacation was primarily to see the several NASCAR shops in the area. We stayed at the Wingate Hotel, Mooresville NCEach team shop is generally 20 minutes from this location. The best by far to visit is the MWR Racing (Micheal Waltrip's Raceworld) located at: 20310 Chartwell Center DrCornelius, NC 28031, USA ‎MWR has a very fan friendly environment, were you can walk right in to the shop area via an over head cat-walk. You look down on the work being performed and can see the cars up close. Great for pictures. We could see staff including Brian Pattie, crew chief for Clint Bowyer examining one of the #15 cars. The gift shop was very affordable and there were many items to choose from. Great selection of shirt sizes, and even a selection of clothing for the kids. There is a personal tour offered on the hour, by a great tour guide by the name of Dean. He is retired from his previous career and positively the best tour guide to spend some time with. He treated my wife and I like we were family. He was witty and had a great sense of humor. He walked us behind the scenes in the areas of the haulers, the pit lane practice area, the fab shop, and had great stories about building the MWR shop.Dean was a very pleasant, very informative and humorous person. He often joked to keep the tour fun such as, "all they seem to hire around here are engineers, must be dime a dozen I guess"After posing for pictures with Dean, we were sad to leave after enjoying and absolutely wonderful experience.Thank you Micheal Waltrip and staff.
