Went to Carolina on Saturday with some friends. This was my first brewery tour, and as some one who knows and loves food,it was very informative. I learned a lot about the ingredients that make sense with the beers I like. The staff were very gracious and took the time to answer all questions and teach about the company and the process. By the way, did I mention that you get to sample all the beers!!! Great seasonal out in the Winter Porter for the wife and you can never go wrong with the Carolina Pale Ale.

The Carolina Brewing Company is in my hometown and it is also my favorite brewery. I love their Octoberfest beer, which really pleases my palate. And the tour on Saturday is a great way to quench your thirst after a morning bike ride or paddle.

That really about sums it up. There are free tours every Saturday at 1:00 pm (arrive a little early; lines are sometimes long) that include a free pint of beer before the tour, and free beer for about 30 minutes after the tour. The beer is good, the tour interesting, and the socializing is always fun. The brewery itself is rather small. The entrance door is to the far right when you pull into the parking lot.

Remember back in the day (ok, there never was such a day) when folks were friendly and trustworthy and generally easy-going? That's the experience at CBC. Free tours on Saturdays, virtually unlimited beer to drink (still free), really friendly staff, and actually educational. We love taking family and friends there when they come to town. Free tip: Easy on the qustions skippy. The more (stupid) questions you ask, the longer the tour takes.Another free tip: Get there early on busy weekends (Holidays, for example). But keep in mind you only get one beer until the tour starts.Slight criticism: The facility is pretty shabby. It is kept clean, etc....but just be prepared for a less glamorous side of the business.

FREE tour with FREE beer!!!! This is a GREAT Saturday afternoon activity! You get a pint glass and they fill it to the rim with your choice of beer before the tour starts. Not your typical 2-3 oz taste test. Great music plays overhead as you look around the microbrewery on your own while sipping on your suds. One of the owners gives an informative and fun talk about the brewing process and the history of NBC. After the tour, the taps are turned back on for another 45-60 mins, and you can sample all the beer you want; they usually have 5-7 choices, including regular and seasonal brews. I loved their Summer Ale, Brown Nut Ale, and the Black Lager. They have 6 packs, cases, and NBC merchandise for sale. As I said before, worth every penny!!!!
