I’m glad you enjoyed our black light mini golf. Your review indicates you visited us in July 2014. The later part of that month we migrated to a new computer system that greatly simplifies the registration process. We now only require your name and birth date. We do have a wheel chair ramp from the parking lot to the track level and an employee assisted elevator from the track to the upstairs area, but it is a big building and getting around can be a challenge. For driving our karts, you just need to watch a safety video that takes about 3 minutes. We have adult karts for ages 16+ and youth karts, ages 8-15. I believe the class and certification you are referring to is for ages 13+, who can take the class and be certified to race in the adult karts.

We're pleased that we could host your event and look forward to seeing you again.

We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. I assume you are referring to the Group On deal. It is advertised as the annual membership plus 1 race for $19.00. It does not say “season pass”. The membership is normally $15 and a single member race is $20, so you received a $35 value for $19. Membership entitles you to lower priced races and laser tag, the ability to purchase multiple race packages and keep the races on your membership so you can get lower priced races without having to use them all in one day, and access to our member only specials each month. Our memberships are focused primarily on the racing, since that is our most popular attraction. We will review the Group On offer to see where there might be confusion. We have been using the same basic ad for over 5 years and this is the first complaint we have received. That does not mean we will not look into it though. As far as ventilation on the track, we employ 4 – 57,000 cubic feet per minute exhaust fans and 10 air intake vents. Our system is more than double the requirements set out by the EPA. We will inspect the ventilation system to ensure it is working properly.

We’re sorry that the party did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on the value of our party packages. Other venues start their packages at $300+. For $220 your group raced in our high speed racing karts, played laser tag, shared 100 tokens in the arcade, had 2 – 16” pizzas from Papa John’s, soda, and a private room for the full 2 hours of the party. You had a party hostess dedicated to your party, and the birthday child received a ColorTime T shirts as a souvenir. I am not sure what the delay was on the track, but would like to speak to you to determine the details so that we can correct the problem. We open at 1:00 on Sundays, so the first party race would have been scheduled for 1:30. If your party didn’t get on the track until 2:00 then that is a problem. We would like to investigate the reason for the delay, but don’t have enough information to determine which party was your in order to review the booking. If you could take a few minutes of your time to speak with Don, we would value your input.

We’re sorry your experience at The Pit wasn’t what you expected. We run high speed racing karts and the “Prep” is pretty standard for this type of activity. Our insurance company and the State of North Carolina require the registration process. We have edited the safety briefing to a short 3 minute video that covers all the essentials for a safe, fun experience. Helmets and neck collars are safety procedures we feel are necessary. We would appreciate your feedback on how to make the “prep” process better. The batting cages were turned over to private management almost a year ago and we have tried to clearly state that on our website.

Four of us went here after our business trip concluded. The carts are just as advertised and more. These are not toys for little kids. These things move. Great adventure for a family with teenagers and adults alike. Lots of fun. The print out of your lap times at the end is very interesting.

little pricey for what you get but lots of activities from mini-golf, arcade, go carts, and laser tags. staff are all young and indifferent

Very exciting carting, if not a little scary. Those carts really boogie. I thought i was going pretty fast until a few youngsters blew by me around the turns. The paintball room is cool as well. Lots of electronic games add to the experience. Neat place for parties.

Family of four with boys aged 10 and 13 had a blast here looking to escape the sun and heat during a recent Lake Norman vacation. Karts were awesome as was laser tag. Staff was very friendly/helpful/polite. Granted, the place was mostly empty when we were there as NC kids were already in school but it was a great time!

I have hosted two team-building events here for work and have been with my children (ages 10, 6 & 4) several times. For team-building, we found the meeting rooms very comfortable (comfortable chairs, large conference table and large, flat-screen for PowerPoint presentations). One of the meeting rooms overlooks the track. There was some karting going on during our meeting, but it was barely noticeable (good wall insulation & double-pane glass). Then we did some karting as a group. For food, they can place orders for you from local restaurants (they do not have their own kitchen). They do charge a service fee (I think it's 10% above the food order) to have food brought in. This is perfectly normal and acceptable (it's like a corkage fee when your bring your own wine to a restaurant).I found the staff to be very helpful and attentive - for both the meetings and for family visits.Recently, we came so my oldest experience karting for the first time. He is 10 years old. I told the person at the desk that I was worried he would have a bad experience if he raced with more seasoned drivers. She set him up with a group of first-time drivers which worked out perfectly. He had a thrilling first time experience at The Pit, and can't wait to go back. I think the cost for him to drive was $18. I think that was fair. They have overhead (building, staff, carts, gas, utilities) and I'm not opposed to them getting a fair price for providing great service.I have read some other reviews and would like to address some of the other comments. The business is located in an old mill. If it weren't for The Pit, and some other businesses that moved in, the building would be an eye sore. For those of you, like me, who like to see things repurposed, this will make you happy. There's some quirkiness to the ceilings and floors, but so what. The kart my son drove, and the others that I have driven in the past, all performed well and were safe. They could probably switch out the helmets more frequently as they showed some wear, but I felt they were safe and would protect your melon in an accident. Some of the games are showing some wear, and one or two were, "out of service", but even Disney World has things that break down during business hours. I'm a foosball guy, and the table needed some lube on the rods.As an adult, I felt like the karts were certainly fast enough to provide a thrilling experience. Some of the other negative comments shouldn't be on here. If you read the FAQ section, you can see that adults and children under 16 can't drive together. You can also see the weight limits, height requirements, etc.I will return again and again and I do recommend them.

Super fun and unique place for a birthday party. In this case my daughters’ birthday party and 7 guests. We had never been prior, so we booked a party room ahead of time. Booking a room is somewhat problematic, as you paying in advance for the activities you plan to do the day of the party. I completely respect that concept as they are also open for regular walk-in business and needing to schedule track time for a race or laser tag is necessary. The staff certainty did all they can to accommodate late arriving guests, but that is where the scheduling becomes a problem. Try telling your party guests they can’t participate in the race since they got their late. What happens is you have already paid for participation and don’t get that refunded.Like I said, the party helper/host and management did all they could to accommodate, and im not sure I have a better solution to this problem. But it might be less expensive to not prepay for the party and just show up paying as you go. Bottom line, super fun place, GREAT FOR KART RACING! And those things can fly!!

We are running new Biz karts for adult and youth that have proven to be fun, reliable, and safe.. Our track lighting was replaced last year and is brighter than most tracks I have visited (over 30 indoor tracks). Our pricing is below GoPro Motorplex and is in line with all the other indoor tracks in the country. Our facility is housed in a textile mill that sat empty for over 17 years and is now being enjoyed by over one hundred thousand people a year. I'm not sure why you felt it necessary to trash The Pit when we strive to offer a fun and affordable experience to all our customers. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience, but it wasn't necessary to post incorrect information about us.

Loved that my 9 year old could race in his own cart. It was big. Certainly lots to do other than racing, but that's all we did. Had a great time & worth the visit!

We obviously handled the entire situation poorly. Our growth has overwhelmed our computer system and we have been in the process of moving to a better system that can handle the added volume. The new system started on 07/15/14. Unfortunately it doesn’t do away with the registration process. We are required by both the State and our insurance company to obtain liability waivers for participants in all activities. We have increased the number of registration kiosks from 2 to 4 and are prepared to add more if necessary. The new system will also allow people to register on line if they are part of an event or party.Adult and youth karts are not permitted on the track at the same time for safety reasons. This is posted on our website under Indoor Go-Kart Racing Frequently Asked Questions. Our youth karts have a weight limit of 175 lbs. Our staff is all aware of this limitation and should have told you this at the register. We frequently permit customers to go down and make sure they fit in a kart before selling the race. I am not sure why this was not done, but I have scheduled retraining for my entire staff to ensure this does not happen again. My staff at the register, the track, and the supervisor failed to perform their duties properly. I will make sure that this is corrected so that it does not happen again. This doesn’t make your experience any better, but your input is valued and we will use it to improve. If you contact me at 704-799-3470 I will make arrangements to refund the cost of the tokens to you.

We took a little break from the enduro in May and June, but will look at bringing it back in July. Always a good turn out and the drivers have a blast. We're glad you enjoyed it and look forward to your next race.
