A good Dan Maples course where he used the terrain and built a great course. It is not as difficult as the Jones course but very enjoyable. There is some very challenging water holes and is well trapped. "GO PLAY"

I just returned from a "guys" week (16 of us). This was the 2nd of 3 days of golf at this property. The course layout was great, unfortunately the condition of this and the other 2 courses is so bad that it over shadows what can clearly be seen as a once great golf property. The greens might have been a "6" on the stimp meter and were the best of the 3. There were tee decks that were unrecognizable! If it wasn't for the tee markers you would never know they were tee decks. There were clumps grass clippings EVERYWHERE. The restaurant wasn't open at all, you had to drive a mix to the Jones course for lunch or even a sandwich. The cart girl seemed pissed that we asked for her when we hit the turn. It was over 100 degrees with humidity and she showed up at the 14th green and asked if we were the ones that complained. This course is under new ownership from a second bankruptcy. It has a LONG way to go to regain its reputation of one of the better track in Myrtle. Not worth the money or time spent here

Nothing outstanding but the price was right and can recommend this course because they are not crowded. Enjoy

For the most part this course is laid out well. Holes #1,7 & 13 are somewhat quirky-short, severe dogleg and just plain unusual. Course has great par 5's and two par 4's over 400 yards from the white tees. Conditions could be improved with some tender loving care; tress, fairways and roughs especially. Greens putted at a consistent speed. A good challenge of golf.

Dan Maples did an excellent job in laying out this course. Like theByrd and Jones, plenty of wildlife to photograph. Tricky par 3's.

Played here as part of my golf trip on Sept 30 2013. Course was in terrible shape. We played four other courses in the area including the Byrd Course on the same property. The greens were a mess, There was cut grass everywhere and it was poorly manicured. It was like playing a beat up muni course that you pay $10 for unlimited play. I felt terrible that i picked this course and had to apologize to my group. The other course we played on the property was excellent but stay far away from the Maples.

Played here on July 16, 2013. Greens were mowed very long and slow slow slow. The staff told us they were "stressed" which does not make sense sense given the cool summer we've had so far. When repairing divots, the grass just came right up - almost no root system. Overall a nice layout and fun to play but the greens really are not worth playing.

My husband made a hole in one on the 5th hole. First time ever! The course was well maintained and he enjoyed playing there.

We found the course to be in very nice shape today. The price was right at $35 a person plus 3 cans of food. We have never been offered that special before but it was a great deal. The staff was friendly and helpful. The course was very busy, but we were still able to play in 4 hours. We enjoyed it so much that we plan to go back to play another Sea Trail course tomorrow. The other courses in the area were considerably more expensive

This is a really fun course to play. Tough enough to feel like a great accomplishment but open enough to not be painful to play. Everyone should try it. You'll come back, for sure.

Played this course today for $25...and sadly that was too much money. The layout is actually pretty decent but the course is in terrible condition. It seems like there has been little to no maintenance recently. The greens and fairways were not too bad but everything else was dried up, there was no grass around the tee boxes(or even on a few), the bunkers looked liked they had never been raked, mulch hasnt been added for years, and half of the tee shots were obstructed by overhanging limbs. If they put some money into the course, it could actually be a decent short course. Agree that there are many better options around.

My husband, teen granddaughter and I golfed The Maples July 22, 2010. The greens were in such bad shape, we couldn't even putt. They even had weeds, yes weeds, growing on the greens plus holes and completely dry spots. It was impossible to putt. Plus the cost was $42!! What a waste, when there are so many nice courses around.

This is my fourth trip to the Sea Trails Plantation in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. The resort has 3 championship golf courses. Each course was in excellent condition as always and the entire staff was extremely friendly and competent. The accomodations were spacious and contained everything you would need for a wonderfull golf vacation. My recommendation is at the highest level!!!
