We were able to rent nice bikes for this day trip. Trail was flat and paved...very easy bike ride. We will visit again to do river tubing.

Had a great time! Staff is great and very friendly. Petunia is cool! We had a great time. The only issue we had is that the river was rather shallow in some places so you actually had to get unstuck yourself, nothing rivergirl could do about that. Make sure to wear watershoes, take a small cooler for some beverages.

We LOVED everything about RiverGirl Fishing Company. We had a blast tubing. The staff was very knowledgeable, accommodating and VERY friendly! This stretch of river is beautiful! We had a group of 15 people, of all ages with us. The kids of course loved seeing Petunia (the front porch pig)! Just be careful driving on the road that leads into Todd. It's curvy and people drive like a fool.

River Girl is the only place to go for tubing the New. A very laid back place with a great pig! This is a very relaxing easy day on the river. We return year after year. Call ahead for river levels and travel times. If the water level is high then the trip should be a little faster and not as long. If it is low then expect to pick up the tube a walk over rocks a bunch.

We've tried 3 different tubing places near Todd and Rivergirl is definitely the BEST. The place is so laid back and cool - there is a "house potbelly pig" that lays on the front porch and the staffers bring their dogs to work with them. Super friendly staff drives you up the river and drops you off for a 3 hr tube ride. You ride the river back down stream and get out right below their outpost. Easy-peasy fun day!!

What a beautiful tubing trip, the New River was just beautiful and clear! Kelly and her staff were fantastic and very accommodating, and such fun! Miss Petunia the pot bellied pig, the welcoming committee" was great, boy does she have the life! She really gets all the attention! Will definitely do again soon! Thanks again to Kelly and the girls!!!!

My family of four went tubing 7/13/14 for the first time at River Girl Fishing Company. We enjoyed the people working at the check in center, they were very knowledgeable and nice. There were several loving critters outside we had fun petting. However the river ride was not so enjoyable. The water level is not high enough for a lazy river ride, we had to get out of our tubes at least 20 times to pass over large rocks or trees in the path. Of course the bottom of the river is slick and uneven so it was nerve wracking walking through the river. The lady at check in said to be thankful that it rained the day before that the water levels would be higher (geeze I hope they don't get any lower). However the views were beautiful, and the company did pick up the tubes when we were done. We only had to walk about 4 minutes back to our car.

Rented kayaks from River Girl for an annual camping/river trip. River was a little low in some areas, but this trip down the river was great! River Girl has always made the trip an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend River Girl and we will be back!

My group of 7 did the tubing. It was a good time and the staff was accommodating. We had to drive from Charlotte and ended up running late. In the car we called them and they said they understood and they would take our tubes to the start of the river. Once we got there and checked in, a nice lady showed us where the ride would end and drove us to the starting location. Once we started we enjoyed ourselves with the slow river and nice views. Everyone on the river was very nice and the river was clean (once a month they pick up trash around the river). It took 3.5 hours start to finish. A few times we would get stuck on a rock so you'd have to stand up to get loose, for this reason I'd recommend wearing water shoes/sandals. While floating, We took our sandals off and hooked them to our tubes. Good experience, be sure to bring lots of sunscreen! 7/5/2014 David

A beautiful float. We were driven upstream and given out tubes and instructions. The we floated down the river for about three hours. The tubes had backrests and cup holders. The water was a bit cold, but actually felt good. Be sure to wear sunscreen! The only rough part was getting out at the end of the trip. Boy were the rocks slippery! But the entire family had a ball!

My wife and I were looking for a level place to ride bikes in the mountains, since we are not true cyclists who are not in the top physical shape necessary to bike mountain roads. We have a 1 year old, and we saw this place carried bike trailers, so we thought this would be the perfect fit for us. Brianna (I hope I spelled that correctly) waited on us. She was pleasant to deal with, and she even offered for us to take some ponchos (no extra charge) since there was a threat of rain. It ended up that our trip was pretty much rain free, and we managed to ride about 11 miles or so. The ride is very easy and scenic. We saw white-tailed deer and a wild female turkey on the route. We would definitely recommend this to others. The only cons I would say we experienced were....1. The bike trailer we used was dirty and had to be cleaned out before use. It didn't look like it had been used in a while, and the seat belt system in it (2 seater) had to be improvised to strap our daughter in. 2. We brought our own bikes, but I would warn you that the bike trailer WILL scratch your bike somewhat by nature of the way it clamps on. I would recommend just renting one of their bikes if you will be pulling a trailer. Perhaps we will come back at some future point to try out the river experience.

I'm no fisherman, but a keen cyclist. On a weekend in August I hired a mountain bike from River Girl Fishing and made my way along the quiet roads by the river, then climbed a few steep hills to make a long-ish loop back round. River Girl didn't have any maps I could use, but I had a good enough idea in my head and managed not to get lost.Gorgeous hills and country side. Great value for money.

Left Philly without my fishing flies and was stuck to try out the New River. Went to River Girl and although closed, ran into Kelly, the owner of River Girl. She opened the store and sold me handmade flies from local craftsmen, Dave & Lee. ( who I met the next day on the New River fly fishing at Todd River Park). I love the river girl for saving the day and for giving me fly fishing lessons last year. Definitely a great stop to have a flying fishing lessons or to rent kayaks or tubs.

RiverGirl Fishing Company is my favorite destinations in Western NC! We've known Kelly and her staff for years and have had amazing times with her fishing, tubing, kayaking, biking on the railroad grade, and hanging out with Petunia the pot belly pig. Kelly is extremely knowledgable about her sports and the river, and her integrity, dedication to her community and commitment to her customers knows no bounds. I highly recommend her company for any excursion on the water or railroad grade. If you are lucky, her adorable son might be in the store when you visit.

We took our family of 6 (4 kids ages 10-11)canoeing for 1/2 day had such a great experience! We made the short drive from Boone and it was well worth the trip. The river is breathtaking and the owners are so patient and helpful. The kids loved the pot bellied pig! We will definitely return next time in the area.
