We had so much fun horseback riding here. The guides, though in their teens, have so much experience with horses, and the horses themselves were gentle and obedient. Even our five-year-old rode!. The scenery was beautiful as we wound our way up the mountains. Best of all, all their horses are rescued from bad situations and rehabilitated by the owner. He was funny and had a lot of stories to tell. Highly recommended!

The other reviewers are spot-on; I'll reinforce that these horses seem very well-kept. We did a two-hour ride. Our guide was a 13-year-old girl who rode bareback and looked like she was raised on a horse. She was inspiring! She got other riders talking as we went along and told us some stories about the areas we rode through. We booked our trip through Carolina Outfitters (a rafting company), which was really convenient. Highly recommended.

I usually find something to complain about but there is absolutely nothing to complain about when it come to the Lonesome Dove Stables. Jason took my wife and I out. It was his first solo guide. It was pouring rain, but Jason did great. The scenery was breathtaking. Our horses, Buddy and Star were great. Richard is the owner and he rescues these horses. From everything that I saw he treats them wonderful, gives them treats when they get back and talks to them as if they are people. This was the highlight of our trip. I highly suggest it. Good people, good time. You can't beat it.

All of the horses were rescued from bad situations. They were then lovingly retrained by the owner, Richard, to be wonderful reliable rides. When we got back from a 2 hour ride each horse got treats, water and a shower! You support Richard's good work by riding here and no experience is needed to have a good time.
