Small, intimate theatre setting with highly acclaimed shows put on by talented people = sold out in advance. We've enjoyed some of the best community theatre has to offer at the Theatre Alliance including their creation of Avenue Q which rivaled the performance of same we saw on Broadway.

A very intimate venue. At one time they did their shows at the SECCA center and on occasion will do one there, like Les Miserables`. We have enjoyed their shows for many many seasons. They do a variety during the season. We usually see 1/2 to 3/4ths of the shows they produce each year. We have a "Theater Group" of friend that gets together and attends as often as possible.Pretty much everyone involved are volunteers! They do a great job. Of couse there are the usual "charaters" (actors) that we watch for from show to show ! We have our favorites... well they are all good actually ! They do a great job with all the shows. Musicals & Comedies are my favorites. We always leave the theater having enjoyed the show. Many times you never know how things are going to go.... shows can be pretty zany, racy, revealing/scantily dressed, moving, FUNNY, interesting. It's always an enjoyable evening out, not to mention....you can't beat the price !!!

We have been to several plays since discovering the theater the end of last year. Love the intimate setting, the actors are quality for volunteers and the subject matter can be so interesting and sometimes racy and baudy. Reminds me of off Broadway but at a price that is amazing! Love it!

We ordered our tickets on line for "The Marvelous Wonderettes" and enjoyed the ease of the process. Their website is very user-friendly, and we were able to choose our seats by looking at a seating chart on line. This was our first visit to the Theatre Alliance, and it definitely won't be our last! From the moment we parked our car to the time we left the building, we were greeted by extremely friendly staff members, who are all volunteers. Our tickets were at the "call" window, and when the employee learned it was our first visit, he was so very gracious and made us feel very welcome. We were taken to our seats and found them to be very comfortable. The theatre is very small based on other local venues in Winston-Salem, probably only about 75 seats or so, but that's part of its charm. If you're claustrophobic, you may want to choose a center aisle seat because the seats on the other end of the rows butt up to a wall with no side aisle. It's tiny - just get ready for that aspect of the building. Patrons with seats on the front rows are required to wait to be seated so other guests can get to their seats behind them - LOL! The show was great, and we felt like we got great value for the ticket price. Since it's such a small venue, the parking lot is very close to the building, so there was no waiting to get on the road home. We are looking forward to going to future presentations in the near future and take friends with us.

Select your plays wisely - may not be appropriate for kids. Local talent with a flair that you just won't find anywhere else. The theatre is small and personal --- a little gem in the city of the arts!
