This is one of the best museums I have ever visited. There is a fun educational play area for children. On the floors above you find artwork and crafts that will astound and captivate any art lovers interest. Also for Bank of America customers the promotion of free museums for card holders allows for free access on certain days.

some interesting pieces, some.....not so much. We took our time, looked at each exhibit. Warhol and Halston exhibit were there and we paid the $24 entry fee and then was told the Warhol thing was $24 extra. Bah Humbug. :)Anyway. I left underwhelmed and really surprised at how little there really is to do in Charlotte if you want to stay in/around downtown.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wide array of beautiful artwork, craftwork, pottery, glass and more. The fee of $12/adult, if you save your receipt, will cover the cost of visiting the Mint Museum Randolph as well. Many other museums and a convenient parking garage located nearby. Certainly worth spending a couple of hours savoring.

Though not many fine, fine pieces this museum has exhibits on pottery, glass and many short term exhibits from other museums

This museum is a must see! It has such an unusual collection of modern, contemporary, craft and design art that I was absolutely blown away. The staging of the art is astounding. As a photographer, I was really impressed that one could take a picture and not have other pieces of art in the way. So glad to have had the pleasure of seeing it.

This is a really fun museum to visit when in Charlotte. The entry fee is very reasonable and you get a lot of art for your money. The gift shop is extensive and it is hard not to buy something. There is a parking garage just around the corner so that makes things easy.

four stories of art and plenty of information to go with it. current display on the Panama Canal 100 year anniversary was more art than engineering which was a surprise for us. gift shop is excellent

Really nice architecture highlights the artwork. The collection is nice, but not extra special. Easy to navigate.

Very nice modern museum. We enjoyed the exhibit on the Panama Canal, which was interesting and full of facts. The museum had a few Church and one Rockwell and similar paintings. Glad we went.

This museum was an unexpected gem in the middle of the downtown area. The building itself is interesting, and I really enjoyed the beautiful paintings. The art is quite nice even though there may be some lesser known artists.

This is a beautiful museum with lots to see. It's beautiful both inside and out. Not necessarily good for kids but teens and adults will love it.

After attending an interesting special event the Museum held about local writers and their books, we decided to tour the Mint's special exhibition on The Panama Canal. It was wonderful! The selection of artists' renderings of the building of the canal were exceptional. I was particularly intrigued by the works of Frederick Church and Alson Clark, accompanied by descriptions in English and Spanish. The exhibit covered the history from the beginning to the canal's completion. There is another exhibit within this main one with two huge globe-like orbs, representing to me, the oceans. This, however, was enclosed and rather claustrophobic. I also particularly liked playing cards from the era with Panama pictures and several old photographs. Other exhibits like Craft & Design were intriguing and inspiring, but The Panama Canal is the one I'll remember.

I was surprised with the quality of the Mint Museum Uptown. For being a branch in the same city, I expected the Mint Museum Uptown to be one of two things. A cast-off second class museum or a specialized branch targeted to a specific audience that can be found in or around Uptown. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Museum was neither of these things. The docents were extremely helpful and more than willing to engage patrons in conversation.

While this is not a huge museum its contents were amazing. The exhibits were well displayed and laid out. As a woodturner, I was very surprised at the number of lathe-turned projects they had on display, such detail and craftsmanship! The rest of the museum exhibits were so cool and unique. Well worth the price we paid for admission ($12).Free coat check near the entrance was a nice feature.

While my husband I were visting Charlotte, we decided to go to the Mint Museum. We expected it to be good but we were actually, happily surprised at just how good this place was. The art is amazing! It has something for just about everyone's tastes. The modern and contemporary collection was astounding, and my favorite. My husband loved the Native American Art and the Craft and Design. We were able to walk through the museum in just a few hours and enjoyed every minute of our stay. I recommend this musuem to eveyone who appreciates art.
