We went for a special exhibit of reproduction historical quilts. This exhibit was well worth the visit. We enjoyed the rest of the museum as well. Very friendly staff. Clean.

Only cost $2 to visit this small but well-planned museum. The upstairs has a full-sized log cabin home with furnishings. Definitely worth a visit.

They had two special exhibits, one on the Roaring Twenties, and one on Quilts, and the regular exhibits are very interesting as well, including a complete settler's cabin and a one room schoolhouse. There is a great deal of information on the stone carving industry and on the circus that wintered in Bloomington. I liked it a lot.

This is a fairly average local museum, maybe a little above average since there are so many history fans in the area to help run it. It's worth a quick visit if you're looking for an afternoon activity. I've actually gone to the museum shop more than the museum itself. It sells pretty standard museum shop items, but it's a handy place to go if you need Bloomington gifts. There are a variety of books, bags, and gifts from and about the area. Many are reasonably priced and easy to take on an airplane.
