I enjoyed the small sampling of artwork at the MMAA...it was a field trip for myself and my children. For the small town of Elkhart, the artwork showcased in this museum of fairly impressive. There are a wide array of paintings, some sculpture, some pottery, some textiles...the staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the entire aura is welcoming and fun. We enjoyed our visit very much; made us become members and pledge to support the museum. Take the time to visit this gem....

The temporary exhibit of local artists' works overshadowed the permanent exhibit. We were not very impressed with either. Very nice people at the welcome desk though.

For the size and location, this is first class. It has a good cross section of high profile artist. There is an outstanding display of Norman Rockwell prints that has its own gallery. We have seen various special exhibits that are professionally displayed.

A museum that states it offers a showcase of 19th & 20th century American Art, sounds like a delightful way to spend an afternoon, but this museum offered so much more. In a charming town of less than 50,000 people, this museum has original paintings from Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell, along with other works by John Singer Sargent and Andy Warhol. The museum is currently hosting the 35th Elkhart Juried Regional Art exhibition, it run through Dec. 8, 2013, and the talent showcased by these regional artist is as diverse and impressive, try not to miss it!The museum itself is housed In a beautiful old bank building in downtown Elkhart, parking in the area is readily available and free for 2 hours. The staff were truly welcoming and helpful wanting to ensure you got the most out of your visit. Treat yourself to a visit, you'll be glad you did.

We came here to see an exhibit of Weston photographs, and enjoyed the well-displayed show. The regular collection is a revolving exhibition of Midwest artists and Midwestern ideals, mostly paintings and prints but also some sculpture. The upstairs area has many Norman Rockwell prints, and the "Four Freedoms" prints displayed together is particularly moving. That floor also has a great collection of pottery and ceramic art.The docent on duty is very helpful in explaining the collection. The place is a gem in the area. It's also good to talk a walk around the historic downtown, with some nearby places good for lunch.

We happened to see this museum on our vacation. The sign is very visible from the street. It was a former Bank. Great collection of Norman Rockwell Lithographs. The Vault was even used as a display area. The lady that greeted us was so down to earth. I purchased a couple of Small art pieces so reasonably priced in the Gift Shop. This museum is a must see in this Historical Town. Take a stroll and see the other stores Antique shops and cafes.

Just a great small museum.. Very helpful docent. Lovely Little gift shop. Fabulous Weston Exhibit currently runner. Wonderful Norman Rockwell, Overbeck sisters exhibits. Other permanent collections items are outstanding for a city this size, DO GO if you are in the area.

This little museum has a great Grandma Moses, many original Rockwell's, including a very early oil, and many lesser known artists. The curator was there and took time to give us details on many paintings including when the Guggenheim borrowed one. This is a must see for art lovers.
