This is a nice place to enjoy the "pace" with family/friends. You can walk the grounds, take a tour, see a show, eat a family style home cooked meal, shop or just relax and take it all in.

Our family has made the trip to Amish Acres a number of times, most recently about six weeks ago. Our kids are now teens, but we have been going since they were small. We love the fact that there are some things that we have to do each trip and also some things that we try for the first time and really enjoy. There is definitely something for people of all ages. The employees are consistently helpful and knowledgeable and seem to really want the visitors to have an informative and fun time. The buggy rides, tours, theatre, and quaint shops are always really well done and represent a great way to temporarily slip back in time…and also to re-connect with your own busy family. The threshers dinner is the highlight! Family style, interacting with other families, nice variety, and great consistent quality all add up to make it a very satisfying and unforgettable experience. We love it! A very unique experience.

Good outdoor museum. FULL of grammer school children on field trips, so be careful you do not trip over them !! Good guided tour and horse drawn carriage ride to out buildings. GREAT restaurant for lunch !! Nice gift shop with food and jams and crafts.

A long review, but worth reading...Learn from our mistake and don't cone here!We planned a four day trip to this area (over a three hour drive each way) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Amish Acres has been on my bucket list for years but this was SUCH a big disappointment! On Saturday, I called to ask when the last dinner seating was. I was prompted by a recording to leave a message and was told that someone would return my call. I left a message with my cell number and waited FOUR HOURS before calling back again... (BTW, they never did call me!) I was told the last seating is at 7pm, which I knew was the restaurant's closing time... When I questioned him, he said "That's right, they do close at 7 today, so maybe 6 or 6:30, but definitely no later than 7..." WHAT?!Their marketing states you should allow 1-1.5 hours for the package we chose. We had a busy day planned but arrived with almost 1.5 hours available. There is ZERO signage saying that you have to enter a particular building to purchase tickets. So, we kept walking until we found the area where tours depart, where a sign states you must have a ticket. Of course, it didn't say where you buy them... I actually had to call from my cell phone since there was no one around to ask! The same person I had talked to earlier about dinner said that we had to come back to the building at the front to get them... We walked back and went in, at which point he shows me a schedule and says it's too late to do it today because the last tours already started! Why don't they put that on their website? Or, why didn't he say so on the phone? We decide to try to salvage the trip somewhat by at least eating there, so we walked back to the building right next to where we had been... We were shocked when we went in and found out we could have purchased tour tickets RIGHT THERE! After hearing there was an hour wait for dinner, we decided to just leave and return the next day. The documentaries were very dated and felt like school films from the 1970s. One bright spot on Sunday was Rhonda, who gave us a wonderful home tour! On the school and grounds tour, we couldn't hear or understand the guide due to the horrible sound quality of the speaker. We were sitting right across from her and were the only two on the wagon so we asked her to talk without it, which was slightly better.(She even admitted it was terrible!)The school tour would be better if there was more authenticity. Wearing a lanyard and having your personal items strewn all over the desk distracts from the "period" feel. At the pumpkin patch, there was what appeared to be a family of 5-6 people who were trying to sell us $3 cups of cider--no thanks! Most shop prices seemed high compared to other places in the area we visited. Baked goods were half price (late in day) but when I saw the bugs flying around inside the boxed pie, we decided to pass!I forgot to list a few things in my restaurant review: The dressing (stuffing) was the most bland I've ever tasted. Had to ask for drink refills. The pickles and coconut cream pie were good, but that's about it. I'm used to the quality we get in Frankenmuth MI and there is no comparison to what we had here... :(This place is run down and needs a lot of work. We don't recommend it!

I love the plays at Round Barn. We have been going there for years. The actors are great and give a great preformance. We spend New Year's Eve at RB

We really enjoyed visiting this farm. It gives the children a total look into the life of the Amish farmers and what they value.

The Festival was wonderful and would highly recommend. The other parts of Amish Acres may be okay for some older people but we came just for the festival

My wife & I attended the opening day of the Amish Acres Art Fest on Thursday, July 31. We expected to see Amish arts & crafts on display, especially after hearing so much about their history and culture. We were very disappointed in what we found. First, there must have been a thousand cars parked on the grass that we had to drive to the outer limits of the acreage. My wife has problems with her legs & it was difficult for us to walk to the entrance. Secondly, there was a $12 charge to enter. I didn't mind paying because I expected to see Amish arts, crafts & entertainment. Instead, we saw hundreds of display booths, not by the Amish people, but from non-Amish vendors from all over the states. Apparently, Amish Acres leased their land for the Fest. I wished the ads for the Fest would have mentioned that. We'll know better the next time.

Everyone we met was enthusiastic and friendly. More signs or communication to let guests know where to go for each tour would be a good idea. Even though we arrived at 10:30 am we were still too late for thrashers lunch by the time we toured the farm and took the wagon ride. But the meal was still delicious. Free samples in the fudge shop were a welcome treat!

When traveling to Amish Acres I think you would be disappointed if you did not immerse yourself in ALL that they have to offer. If you just go to Amish Acres and visit the Amish home and farm grounds you would most likely be very disappointed. Yes, you will get a tour of an old time Amish farm house and barn. But if you have been to a farm before this will not be special. However, if you also include the Thresher Dinner at their restaurant, your value to the experience goes up. Add to that spending a few hours watching a well acted performance in the Round Barn Theatre and you have the makings for a very good day. They offer very good deal that includes your meal, overnight stay, farm tour and tickets to a performance in the Round Barn Theatre. Well worth the time and a decent value.

We visited recently on a trip through the Amish country. Purchased package that included the wagon ride, the buggy ride, tour of the house, the documentary films, the thresher dinner and two tickets to see the play "Footloose" in the round barn theater, all for $100 for two. All of it was fun but the buggy ride is short. The wagon ride is longer and the guide gives you great information about the buildings and especially the school house. I definitely would not miss the tour of the farmhouse. It is full of fun facts and you get to see the inside of an Amish home. I recommend seeing the documentary film as early as possible as it will help you better understand the Amish life. We went early (opens at 10 am) and did all of the activities at the farm. We then left and came back around 6:00 pm for dinner. First we stopped in above the restaurant for wine tasting (mostly from Michigan) and then had dinner around 6:30 pm (they stop serving at 7 pm). The dinner wasn't overly fancy but plentiful with the food. They give you the choice of two meats to share. We had very tasty fried chicken and very lean roast beef. They serve soup, Amish bread, pickles, Amish noodles, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw (good German style) and a large selection of desserts. I had to try the Shoo Fly pie. Very sweet but tasty. This was topped off with the beverage of your choice. Service is excellent being done mostly by hard working college kids. We finished with time to browse the bakery full of Amish candies and breads and the large gift shop before going to the Round Barn theater for a delightful evening of watching the local repertoire company perform the musical "Footloose". It was a great time and a great value. One of the theater tickets was free as part of the package. They had sodas and snack in the lobby of the theater.

We have been traveling for some time and didn't really know what to expect when we went to Amish Acres. We did the passport tour and really enjoyed ourselves. We had the Thresher lunch which we all thought was fabulous! Everything was delicious and there was so much food! My only complaint was we couldn't take the left overs with us. The tours were informative and my kids loved the buggy ride. The documentary was a little boring for the kids but other than that it was great. We bought some bread and jam before we left, a little pricey but delicious! Fun day.

Amish Acres round barn theater is only one of several features of Nappanee Indiana. Came here a few years ago, for the show Plain and fancy and thoroughly enjoyed that show which still plays here at Amish Acres. This time came for the show Footloose the musical, wonderful the cast has almost as much fun as the audience laughs and applauds. This is only showing for a few more days, if you missed it well I can say the show was wonderful. Wish I lived closer to the Round barn theatre architecture is also magnificent, sorry no pictures you will just have to take my word as the repertory theater stage is one of the busiest in the state of Indiana. You will also have to take my word that any seat is a good seat, our seats happened to be all the way up front row A, about 8 feet from the stage which is a good 3 feet above us and we could see the smile on the cast as they performed the show. At plain and fancy we had balcony seats and the seating as not very far from the stage maybe 40 feet and again the show was wonderful! There is also a restaurant and Wine barn, which several people raved about but will have to wait for a future review. If you happen to near the area Shipshewana is not too far from the round barn theater which has a flea market held every Tuesday and Wednesday of each week from the first of May through the end of October, you can find hundreds of vendors selling everything from fresh fruit to handcrafted furniture at the Shipshewana Flea Market.Plan to spend a few days here and catch a show and get some great bargains at the same time. Check out my other camping reviews to come.

Amish Acres was fantastic. We took the tour that included everything but the stage play and enjoyed every minute of it. You have to like history tho or it won't be your sort of vacation.Staff was very nice. Gift shops were a little expensive, but that is normal around a tourist trap.

My family did not enter any of the areas that cost money. We are from Fishers, Indiana (home to Conner Prairie) and felt that the only thing that would really be "new" for us was the buggy ride and my hubby was kind of over it by that point. The shops were cute and had a good selection of souvenirs. The ice cream and soda fountain/fudge shop was cute and worth a visit. This would be a great place to come if you don't have access to a living history museum or would like to learn more about the Amish way of life. Warning: It was difficult to figure out how to enter Amish Acres. The Theater was clearly marked, but there was no marking to figure out how to get into the other part of the Acres.
