Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is a very special place, worth the drive in east central Indiana. It's an easy drive from Indianapolis and is a must-see! Home to Indiana's Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, there is much to do on and around the beautiful and serene grounds. Visit the centuries-old buildings, including a church patterned after one in Paris, France, and the Grotto, fashioned after the one in Lourdes. This fall, the new Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore will open, and will be a draw for many to see. There are also alpacas on the working farm, and horses at the Mari Hulman George School of Equine Studies, part of the campus of Saint Mary-of-The-Woods College which sits adjacent and has many beautiful buildings of its own to explore. I highly recommend a visit to this place...make a day of it and plan to come visit or volunteer!
