We really enjoyed this zoo. It is landscaped beautifully and although it's small, it's very informative and educational.

They had some little tiny monkeys that looked almost human and the kids like the prairie dog tunnels

My husband and I had some time to spare while in Hutchinson on an Sunday morning and read about the free zoo. Being early and on a Sunday, the gift shop was not open and the train was not running, yet, so we missed these two aspects. I would have loved to have rode the train, especially since we later learned that it was a fairly new train and the old one had been purchased by the Strataca Salt Mine for their salt mine express. But we did walk around the zoo, and were quite impressed by the variety of animals and the displays. Everything was clean and well kept and the animals looked healthy and happy. There were a few families with kids enjoying the zoo while we were there. It was just the right size for young kids. We were happy that we took the time to visit and enjoy this attraction. I was not expecting much, but, was pleasantly surprised, good job Hutchinson Zoo!

Very cool place to see different animals. You can feed the kangaroos, pet the lamas, camels. Family place for sure.

The exhibits are very nice, the animals are well cared for, and the staff s friendly. It's not very big, but it's free. There is a climbing web for the kiddos to play on as well as a Dino dig. Talked with the director for a while, he was very nice and you could tell he loves the zoo. Will visit again next year!

It's a nice zoo for a small town. Enjoyable for young children, and can be seen in a fairly short time. The surroundings are pleasant. Not too tiring. Fairly well kept. The deer did not look healthy, but most animals appear to be well cared for.

This zoo is in a great location. The zoo is located in a beautiful park and after seeing the zoo we took our children over to the park for a picnic and let them play. The zoo is very well maintained and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. Our kids enjoyed the short train ride and the gift shop. Most of the animals are native to Kansas and there is a lot of interesting information on them. We strongly recommend a visit to this zoo if in the area.

We are from a very large metropolitan city and it was quite refreshing to spend time in a small, local zoo. It was great for my toddler. We will definitely go every trip we have to Hutchinson.

This is a very nice small zoo. The landscaping is really pretty, we were there in the Fall and it still looked very nice. The animals seem happy and well cared for, with the exception of the badger and the bald eagle. Both seemed to be going stir crazy in their tiny cages. I hope they have plans to change that soon – it is heart-breaking to see.

A small zoo with a future plan to expand. Enjoyed the visit but wish there were more to see but if their future expansion plans are fulfilled, this place would be great to visit. We enjoyed our visit very much as we both enjoy visiting zoos and each is different and unique.

This is a nice little zoo-well kept and clean. A must stop place for me when in Hutchinson just to see the otters play. Nifty mini train ride for the young ones or the young is us "mature" visitors-Ha!

A great place to spend the afternoon with the kids. Seeing the animals, and take a quick ride on the train. May not be a huge place but definitely a fun place.

This is a small free zoo that appears to be well-kept. It was quiet with a roomy layout, a couple of indoor areas, and nice green areas. They have an "Animal Encounter" area and when we were there, they had a miniature pig we were allowed to pet. The gift shop was not open and a few of the animals were not out/visible. We really enjoyed the codes on the reptile cages that indicated whether the creatures are venomous, what kind of habitat they live in, etc. There are also several machines to buy animal food for a quarter. The coy fish in the pond are beautiful and watching them is quite interesting. Plenty of restroom areas and spots to picnic.

This is a nice, small zoo that is free. There is a donation box at the entrance if anyone would like to donate. There was a computer screen for visitor's to register, but it was not working when I visited. The Hutchinson Zoo focuses on North American species, such as bison, badgers, and various reptiles. The gift shop was closed, as there is not enough manning to cover certain aspects of the zoo. You have to call a number if you want someone to open the gift shop for you. Overall, this is a nice place to spend an hour or less.
