I love museums and have discovered a real gem in Pratt, Ks. I've visited this one 3 times. And each time I've found it well organized, squeaky clean with a huge selection of items to enjoy. Everything from a covered wagon to Miss Kansas..There is the most extensive collection of antique toasters and waffle irons I have ever seen. Tractors, a beautiful marble soda fountain, a nice western town mock up with livery stable, mercantile and jail. Hats, period clothing, shoes, and various displays showing life way back when..It's all represented in this large collection. And, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They will also enjoy helping you with your ancestry work. This is a donation only museum. Well worth the couple of hours you'd spend looking through things..Pay them a visit! :)

This museum in an old lumber yard is very well done and is an excellent museum of Pratt County that includes a variety of aspects of it's rich historical past. Walking through history it starts with a perspective of the many cities of the county many of they now a part of history. Native Americans, local people who have made Pratt what it is including mannequins with death masks of the individual that will chill you with their look alike features. Two Main streets and local stores will take you back to yester years. A display honoring the locals who participated in the various wars this county has been involved in. A history of the Miss Kansas Padgant held in the city with emphisis on the three Miss America's that have started here. Great museum give yourself 3 hour at least to visit this museum and if you are looking for info on ancestors it's a good place to start.
