There are many exhibits and I found it very interesting. I learned a lot about the history of Wichita. Spend several hours wandering around the four floors of the building. Well worth the visit.

With 4 floors to explore for $8 it was worth the price of admission. Most displays were mildly educational and nothing we hadn't seen before. Pretty standard fare for a museum with nothing extra special. We paid for 2 1/2 hours parking in the Century 2 lot across the street and saw every exhibit in the museum without worry the meter would run out. If you want to spend time reading about all the exhibits or listen/watch all the videos, plan on at least 3 1/2 hours of parking. I believe the meter gave us 30 minutes per 25 cents but, I really didn't pay strict attention. I just fed it quarters until we had 2 hours on 2 meters (paid for sons car too). The meter we used only accepted quarters. It ate our sons dimes without giving him any time on the meter.

I attended many years ago with my children. My 3 and 5 year old grandchildren comment on "the castle" and expressed their desire to see the inside when we drive by it. We made the museum one of our planned outings and finally found a time to take them. They both loved the experience. Even though there is not a lot special for their age they were entertained and I think their brains took in much of the displays. They especially looked at and expressed pleasure in the high ceilings, brass rails, They were truly happy with their trip into the castle. They moved too fast for wife and I to fully read everything and listen to the historic videos which did not interest them, so we want to go back sometime without them. Now when we drive by the old Wichita city building they know the mystery of what it looks like inside. We had a tight schedule and made the self tour in about 1 1/2 hr. The museum is a great value for the $5 for adults and the children were free. It is a good walk for seniors back into the past of Wichita. Be sure and note the limited hours of 11 am to 4, but special group and school guided tours can be arranged at non-published hours.

Went to the Sedgwick County Historical Museum for a step back into history, it was fun to see things from when my parents were young. The displays were clean and attractively displayed. It is well worth visiting.

This place is underutilized by Wichitans. Several levels of local history to see. Often have interactive events for kids. The price is affordable for a family. They sometimes have free days. Only real downside is parking. Its downtown so I wouldn't visit it if century II is having several events as they will take all close parking.

I love the architecture of the building itself! Beautiful! I loved strolling around this museum with my kids. There was a lot to see and experience.

Take the kids and go while it is so hot you can't play outside. Fun, interesting, thought provoking and just plain fun. It has been some time since I have been there, but am planning another trip to visit it.

We visited the museum & were very surprised at the content in it. Full sized living quarters with complete kitchen & bath really give you a sense of life in old Wichita. Fun collections like cut crystal, silver & old toys made the eclectic collections supply a surprise around every corner. The full sized drugstore soda shop was a step back in time. The museum is well done & area residents should be proud of this gem!

Nice museum in old city hall building. Right next door is old public library building that is now a bank. Museum is a good place to visit!

If you have never been to Wichita before, this museum is a crash course how the city grew from a cowtown to a major automobile center to now an aircraft manufacturing center - in an unlikely spot in the Kansas prairies. I loved the cut glass entrance doors on the first floor. I liked the third and fourth floors the best. The museum building used to the old City Hall. Worth the $4 admission price!
