This is one of our favorite winery’s. We compare all of the other to Wollersheim (in Iowa and out of state). The criteria for us is; Wine selection and taste, atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and atmosphere inside and out to enjoy a bottle of wine on the premises. This is how we rate our selection. The only thing we wish is that it was closer to us in Iowa. We would go there at least twice a month! This is a must!

I am not a wine drinker, but the sisters are. I liked the tour, even though there really was no reason for them to take us outside in the bitter cold just to show us some cuttings of vines and to talk about the cave. For the $5.00 admission, you do get to taste a few wines of their choice. And the tours start at 15 mins past the hour. We arrived at 11:30 and looked around the small gift shop area and the wines for sale while waiting for our tour at 12:15pm. It should be noted that there is a steep climb from parking lot into the winery shop. But found out that there is a road that you can drive up to the building and use only as a drop off or pickup of passengers and purchases. I believe there was a marked area for 1-2 handicap parking in this location. Would I go back? Maybe during warmer weather to enjoy the outside views, but not for the tour.

I am so glad this place exists! Good wine, spectacular gift shop and wine tasting, cool little tour. In the summer, stop in town first and pick up a sandwich and then eat it out on their grounds and sip your wine. They can give you silverware and plates and napkins if you ask for them when you come in. We gave them our food and they put it behind the counter while we took the tour (nominal fee) and when we were finished we collected our food and had a picnic in the wine garden. Beautiful grounds, very beautiful.

Combine a beautiful property and grounds, with personable, knowledgable and unpretentious staff (our guide was Amy); Top it off with great wines, a lovely showroom, and you have the excellent tour experience that is Wollersheim Winery! We had a fantastic time and will be back!

Here! In tiny Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, on the cold, steep banks of the Wisconsin River! Take a tour here and find out how wine got its start in the United States, RIGHT HERE. You'll thank me later.I've picked grapes here, back in the day, and got paid in wine (so long ago), and my Mom has known the Wollersheims since I was a twinkle. For a few years, I even lived nearby on Lake Wisconsin. I live in Massachusetts now, so I have to squirrel bottles of Prairie Fumé and Riesling and Domaine Reserve back in my suitcase (let's face it, I squirrel a few pounds of cheese, too). But it's not just nostalgia that keeps my wine supply stocked with this local favorite, it's award winning talent. You'll find most Wisconsin groceries and liquor stores stock Wollersheim, but it probably isn't available in your home state.I finally got to try all the wines and ports in one go at a case club member-only event on my birthday two weeks ago. Yes, in fact, it was heaven. They have brandy and Eiswein, too, but they are popular and hard to come by! Try the white port!! You will find the workers here to be kind, knowledgeable, and so enthusiastic about wine.Yes, by all means, take a drive up Hwy 12 and take a tour of my favorite winery, look for some soaring bald eagles, and squirrel a couple bottles home with you. You won't be sorry. Handicapped accessible:) Call if you have questions about that or where to park!

First, and definitely not the last visit to this winery. Beautiful grounds, fun and knowledgeable staff, varied selection of products in the gift shop, and a tour that is VERY informative. It was nice day trip and I look forward to returning in the summer or fall. There is a fee for the tour, however it includes a tasting at the end and it is well worth it.

This winery is one of the oldest in the Midwest dating back to the 1800's. It has a long and storied history that can only be appreciated by taking the tour. At the end of the tour is the obligatory tasting room where you really get to appreciate the "fruits" of their work. If you have any interest in wine at all this has to be on your list of places to visit.

My husband and I recently stopped here on our way home from the Dells. It was a beautiful fall day & the surroundings were very scenic! We took the tour & did the free tasting. It was definitely worth the stop!

The winery not only has great wine, but wonderful people, beautiful views and a there's a charm about it unlike any other winery I have been to. My first visit was about 35 years ago when they still had a Franklin stove as the only heat. I fell in love with the place and the owners. I don't drink much wine, but when I do I enjoy the steep climb to the store. (you can also drive up). The tour is very informative and you can sample the different wines. You will want to visit the gift shop often!

I've been visiting this winery since I was a child, before I could even drink their wines. And I have witnessed their amazing changes over the years with new buildings constructed, more wines and extending into other products, bigger & nicer events, bigger tours....they've gotten bigger, but I don't feel they've ever gone too fast expanding. I've seen wonderful transformations over the years resulting in very nice facilities and have a spacious gift shop/tasting area/reception hall, as well as the grounds/vineyards themselves...it's been nice seeing all the upgrades and improvements. With their long tradition, you can taste their hard work and commitment to their wines and I truly feel that their wines are by far better than any other winery in the state of Wisconsin (along with their sister property in Cedar Creek). I have always been a big fan of their River Gold, served cold which is how I like it. I've enjoyed see them branch out to Ice Wine, Port & and now Brandy. I've always tried to maintain Case Club membership and I like the newsletters, member only tasting and other perks. They do appreciate their loyal customers. I will very often give Wollersheim as a gift and when friends from out of state or out of the country come to visit, I've often taken them to Wollersheim to enjoy the tour. It's always been a pleasure to drink their wines.

I have been to Wollersheim just to buy some wine and for the whole tour experience. The location is great. It doesn't seem to matter what time of year I go. it is atmosphere with a great view. The store has unique gift ideas and plenty of wine. From the grapes they grow there to the ones they buy to make other wines. They are all good. My favorite is the River Gold and the Prairie Fume. I recommend the tour and the wine very much. There is a charge for the tour but just walking around the area is free.

Do not plan a quick trip to this picturesque winery. The views are breath taking and the grounds meticulously maintained. Take your camera to capture the memories. There is plentiful outdoor seating for warm-weather visits and also a welcome cave to explore. There are two wine tasting bars and the wine supply will not disappoint. Pricing is reasonable. Wine pickup parking is available to avoid the walk down to the parking lots.

Wollersheim is beautiful, interesting, reasonable regarding prices. Tour and staff is great... I would recommend this winery to everyone. The whole place is amazing. Make plans to go there, enjoy the beautiful landscape, the buildings, winery itself, the staff...plus they are is very helpful and organized regarding choosing wine and pick up...
