The 3rd Ward is one of the top neighborhoods in the Milwaukee Metro area. Having worked there for over 6 years, I've walked all of it, dined at most of it, and still never tire of it. The old warehouses and buildings give it much more of a neighborhood vibe than many other areas of the city and make it very enjoyable. There are many galleries, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants to try out and explore. It's no surprise that it's a hub for creative companies to call home and that it's a little more expensive to own or rent a condo there. Be sure to stroll along the Riverwalk, visit the Public Market, and have a meal al fresco in the summer- either on the sidewalk, the riverwalk, or the roof of Cafe Benelux.

It's one of my favorite places to visit when I'm traveling to Milwaukee Wisconsin. Perfect for strolling around on a sunny day in the summer. Fantastic places to eat, galleries everywhere, and fun places to shop for unique gifts. Also great local theater places there if you are in the fix to see a great play!!

Third Ward is nice but it's sort of disney-ish! There are wonderful galleries that are fun to get lost in. Bay View has much more realness..

Its a great place to just walk around. Also lots of great places to shop and eat, with a nice view of the river

Years ago, this had become a seedy area and undesirable place to live. Thus, a lot of the historic buildings remained as a transformation began to take place. Today, old and new buildings co-exist well in a vibrant place of shopping, galleries, restaurants and bars, and urban residences, in an area along the Milwaukee Riverwalk and Summerfest grounds on the east.

The Third Ward has very interesting shops and eateries. The older buildings are used for a variety of purposes and it is just fun to walk around and take it in. Some of the food places can be a bit pricey but not crazy. Can be a fun place for older and younger alike.

Its a great place to walk around and enjoy some good food and drink. The only draw back its that a lot the restaurants are pretty fancy and expensive. I think Milwaukee is trying to draw a younger crowd to come in but it isn't going to happen with this type venue. They need more places like the Milwaukee Ale house which is down here on N. Water street, good spirits and somewhat reasonable.

We have spent lots of time in this neighborhood over many years. Some family members are born and raised in the area, and still live there, so we speak from a lot of experience. Last time there was 4 weeks ago. The area has a number of shops and restaurants that are decent and worth a visit. In the daytime, it is fairly busy, and fairly safe. At night, things change. One family member has had many thefts in the area (yes, right in zip code 53202). Example: decorative wreaths stolen from off the front door, lights on a tree and the extension cord that went with it stolen, and pumpkins taken from the stoop. They stopped decorating outdoors for the holidays. They had a number of packages stolen that were delivered by the post office, and stopped having packages delivered at home and get them at work now. They often find cigarette butts, beer cans, and worse on their little front yard, and have found used syringes a few times, as well. We have seem panhandlers, asked us for change on numerous occasions. So, if you are in the area, enjoy yourself, go out to eat, etc., but keep your eyes open and do not travel alone at night.

Milwaukee's Third Ward is a nineteenth century neighborhood that has been regentrified in recent decades. It is regularly used for a film set for movies set in the past. It is filled with cafes, bars, art galleries, antique shops, condos, and other businesses. It is a small neighborhood surrounded by Lake Michigan to the east, the Milwaukee River to the west and south, and the freeway to the north. On the lake it has the Henry Maier Festival Grounds, home to Summerfest and an ever changing line-up of ethnic festivals. There is something here for everyone.

Being from Chicago we have a little bias on what is good or not in a city but the Third ward has a lot of charm. If you really want a good look at it take a food tour here to learn some of the history and taste some great food!

We went for lunch and discovered the Spice House in the Public House and several nice little shops. You can find parking, but you may have to walk a fair distance from one end of the neighborhood to the other. We enjoyed it!

The Third Ward area has several good restaurants and is also very close to the Public Market which is a collection of indoor little restaurants and walk-up places to get all kinds of food. There are a few unique stores in the Third Ward like Anthropologie, a neat shoe store called Shooz and some others. It is especially nice to go there in the spring or summer so you can have your lunch outside.

Public market was the best. What a great concept! All these shops under one roof were really well done. People were very friendly & service was great. What a great part of town. lot's of history too! redevelopment in this area is quite the refresher!
