Don't drive 5 minutes out of your way to see this statue. It's supposed to have Perry singing his songs but that rarely happens since no one in the borough building is interested in the maintenance of the hardware.

Am old enough to remember Perry Como and it's somewhat of a shame to find this statue in the middle of a dead town surrounded by small strip centers, vacant storefronts and dilapidated homes. If you're a fan, grab a picture and drive on, not much else to see.

Yes, Perry Como and Bobby Vinton both come from Canonsburg Pa. Bobby refuses to say that he does and that is why Perry got the statue! It even plays his music! lol

If you're a Perry fan, this tribute is worth a visit. It's not the largest or most impressive statue you'll see, but it certainly warms the heart of those who love his music. And the photo ops are great to send home to friends and family.

Perry Como, the pride of Canonsburg, PA was honored with this statue. It's meaningful to fans of the great crooner who was one of the first superstars of television and American pop music. While it's not a destination for most people, anyone coming to Canonsburg to visit Sarris Candies or to watch the famous 4th of July Parade (ranked #2 in the Commonwealth) might want to drop by to see it. What's fun is that the statue is occasionally seen decorated with seasonal attire: a Santa hat for Christmas...a Pittsburgh Steelers Terrible Towel during football season - you get the picture.

When you see a statue that is all you get but having the music added makes it great! Canonsburg adding the music did a great job.

Sarris Candies, Antique Shops, Trolley Museum, Oktoberfest . . . there are so many other reasons to come to Canonsburg. The status is not one of them. Perry didn't even come to see it! Come to Canonsburg for the other sites and stop at the statue if you must, but don't complain to me if you are let down.

Dont expect a grand monument but Canonsburg is truly proud of their hometown boy....at 6 PM I love hearing the music coming form the Municipal Building

I love poking fun at a review of something like this. It is an outdoor statute that does exactly what you expect it would do. It stands there. The birds visit and ocasionally leave a calling card.

If you travel to Canonsburg, Pa. to see the statue of Perry you must be a huge fan. You will also be the only person there so if you make the trip at least get the best pizza anywhere in Pittsburgh a few blocks away at Sam's Pizza. Then go next door to Sarri's candy and load up on the best chocolate in the US and have a hot fudge Sunday too. You might a s well just forget the statue just go to Canonsburg to eat.

Uncle Perry in the center of town! Awesome! 4th of July is the best Parade and Fireworks can't be beat.

There really isn't much to this statue at all but the town of Canonsburg is cool. Go to Sarris Candy for ice-cream and chocolate. Visit McDonalds and they have the items and history from Perry Como and Bobby Vinton who are both from Canonsburg. There really isn't much there except the 'Baveran Festival' in October and Canonsburg puts on an awesome display of fireworks and entertainment on the 4th but I recommend go to Mt. Washington to see fireworks (only 25 mins. away to Pittsburgh)

Was interesting , there were bases around the trees on the street with song titles of his and Bobby Vintons . The pizzeria across the street was good place to grab a bite to eat and a drink of your choice.

Aug. 3, 2003 I couldn't wait to get to Canonsburg, so I could see "MY Perry". It really is beautiful!!! You walk around and look at all the pavers and see who has said some very nice things about Mr. C. There is a special one fro Mrs. Como[they love of Perry's life] I was surprised that there isn't hardly any more about Perry in the town where he grew up. I thought I was going to be able to walk into a "Perry "store and buy something I dont' have.I did purchase a paver, so I can be added to the list of people who have came, saw ,and respected this man.They are someday, suppose to have a museum, and I will donate all my "Perry Como "thing , so other people can truly see what a very fine gentleman he really was.Cindy jedrzejas
