I once spent a week on a dude ranch and was asked about height, weight and riding experience when I booked my stay. I realize this is a 2 hour ride and not a week but they didn't want any info from us ahead of time - just told us to bring our printed out Living Social coupons. I made the mistake of saying I had experience (it was just a yes or no question) and was given a horse that made me a little nervous. I asked if he was going to be more than I could handle and was told I'd be fine (no questions asked). Not wanting to appear to be a wimp in front of my husband who had never ridden I held in my reservations. 10-15 minutes into the ride my horse spooked another horse being ridden by a little girl who started crying and had to be walked back to the ranch with her mom. I felt horrible! They let me switch horses with the back guide who was walking the girl & mom back. Most of the rest of the ride we only had a lead guide. Eventually another guide caught up with us but she brought a horse she couldn't mount and had to switch horses with the lead guide. That horse looked difficult to handle and the guide had to keep walking it in a circle which held up all the other horses. I felt that there should have been 3 guides sent out originally just in case of a situation such as ours. Our group was large and I'm sure it was difficult for the guide to lead it alone. She was tethered to another girl's horse for much of the trip also. The LS deal we bought on 10/2/14 was for 50% off of the regular priced 2 hour ride rate of $80. The ranch office had a sign posted on the wall that said the price effective Sep 1st was $40 so in effect we were already paying the regular price. I felt a little deceived when I saw that.All that having been said, the ride itself was beautiful. The trail goes through a state park and it was a gorgeous day in terms of weather and leaf colors and we both really enjoyed ourselves.

It was my first time horseback riding. This ranch is really nice. It’s spacious, clean, and the instructors have good relationships with the horses. My guide was a very young lady with boy short hair, I forgot her name but she was wonderful! She was curious about where we were from (NYC), without being invasive, as we shared stories about ourselves and our families. There were a few stubborn horses, but nothing the instructors couldn’t handle, and it was funny to watch them talk to the horses like they were people, each one having its own personality =) As for the trail, we got to ride through a forest and some pasture, even catching a glimpse of a river on the other side. Overall, it was a great experience. Would like to return again.

My husband and I went for a 2 hr ride. Ther horses are healthly and well cared for. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Mary, our guide, had lots of info about the horses and trails.Best Part--riding through the creeks. We used Groupon Great Deal--Great Ride.

I called Red Buffalo Ranch late at night recently to arrange for relatives who were visiting to ride the next day . It seemed like a long shot that it would work out but what do you know..... the owner, Mike Marino called me at the crack of dawn the next morning & off they went ! Horsebasck riding was the special request of 11 year old Live'. She was visiting me (from Oslo) for a few days, along with her 2 9y/o siblings and parents. So five people, 4 of whom were non-riders and for whom English is 2nd language. Due to my work I was not going to be able to go with them so it was very important to know they were is good hands and that the experience with be FUN ! They had a fantastic time, felt very safe, and met some other non-local people on the ride. It was great to hear that it was everything they wanted it to be and I will definitely keep it in mind as a group activity for the future. Mike Marino has mastered the art of keeping it fun while still taking safety seriously. Red Buffalo horses seem healthy, staff is helpful, and the Ranch is well run and clean... ( as much as any ranch can be :-)

This was absolutly the best time! Owner was wonderful and very nice and his staff and horses were great! We did 9am and this was our second horse trail ride for us as family but the first was at different ranch. We enjoyed the first but this one was even better!!! 5 stars on Red Buffalo Ranch! Going again NEXT MONTH!! CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

This was a great ride for the money. The staff was super friendly and the horses were well cared for and that was so awesome to see. I am looking forward to returning and having another ride. Dont pass up this great activity for friends, couples, and families!
