There is lots to do no matter what time of year it is. There is boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, fishing, ice fishing, night fishing, camping, picnicking, swimming, hiking, biking, sledding and lots of area to explore. Another highlight is watching the Eagles that have chosen to nest in that area. Plenty of bird nesting boxes, wildflowers, deer and other wildlife.

We enjoyed several hikes in and around the park during our visit at The Nature Inn. The frozen lake was a great site for ice fishing, skating, and hockey.

My husband and I wanted a quick couple days away together and booked this place based on the lake (we're avid anglers/kayakers) and it was one of the state parks we had never before visited. We stayed in a camping cottage (be warned newbies: no amenities besides beds and heat, very different from a rustic cabin or a yurt) and the campground was so peaceful. The lake is gorgeous, we heard elk calling from the neighboring mountain, saw tons of deer and different duck species. The Rangers were very nice and the park is very well kept. Looking forward to returning.

The canoeing was fabulous. We were out for around 2-3 hours. We had just enough water with us. It was a hot day but we didnt want to stop. We went out very far and really enjoyed the incredible scenery. There is an old raised bridge that a couple of people were fishing on so we made that our goal. To get some shade there is a much bigger bridge spanning across the lake and that gave us some rest and some shade.

We've been going here for years mainly to fish but we've also spent time on the water in our friends boat. Very nice lake and you can actually catch some fish. Our son enjoys fishing here and so did his dad 40 years prior when he was his age. I have tubed on the water and it was a blast. It's not close to a large lake really ( in pa we take what bodies of water we can! )but it's picturesque and we even saw an eagle while picnicking ! There is overnight camping which looked a little open but still nice and neat.

If you love the water, rent a boat! Get out on the water and enjoy the beauty here. We rented a ski boat, our whole family skied and then did some tubing later on. The water is clean and the scenery is beautiful. Also spent a couple days on the trails hiking. Very quiet and beautiful. Although we did not rent kayaks or bikes, they are also available. We hope to be back.

Nice sights and gorgeous lake. I highly recommend for a vacation or just a day trip. We rented a boat and a tube and had a lot of fun for everyone young and old.

Words can't describe how beautiful it is....just pack some snacks and water and go. There is a nature education center, marina with reasonable boat rentals, sandy beach, clean restrooms, multitude of trails with varying difficulty levels.

There are lots of picnic areas, great beach area, several boat launching areas, and terrific fishing. There is a very nice "hotel" there and lots of camping spaces, both rv and primative camping. There are great hiking trails, too. All around great place to visit for a day or longer.

I almost don't want to say this as it seems like a secret but this is probably one of the nicest state parks we've stayed in. Clean bathrooms and grounds, a beautiful lake, and a few miles of hiking trails. Not to mention spacious sites and all of the other amenities. A sectioned off lake area for swimming, rentable pavilions and a playground for the kiddos. We will definitely be back!
