All sorts of engines and coal tenders. If your a train buff you know what that means. Old trains inside and outside. You can spend a half day there no sweat. Its right across the street from the Strasbourg railroad and right up the street from the choo choo barn.

This museum is right across the street from the Strasburg Railroad. I remember my parents taking me here as a child and my wife and I wanted to bring our daughters to see it. We visited in November 2014. I recall that we got a AAA discount on our tickets and it was a little over $33 for 2 adults and 2 children. You can view old trains and engines of all kinds dating back to the 1800's and 1900's. Each train has a display and sign that tells you about the train with interesting facts.

They so a very nice job of taking care of such beautiful pieces of history. So much work is put into everything in this museum, big and small trains alike. And they have a lot of this for the kids to do as well.

Great place to spend an hour or two. Plenty of rolling stock and museum displays. Nice gift shop too.

This museum is first class. The trains inside are well kept and very clean. Lots of rail related items to see, from Railroad police items to model train setups.

My grandsons just love this place. A huge building with many real trains, some you can tour the inside. They have a great place for kids to explore and play - several tables of train lay-outs of hands on play for kids ( including a huge table of Thomas the Train - my grandsons favorite) I have taken my grandsons there (ages 2 and 4) 3 times this winter and they are never bored. One time we spent 4 hours there and another almost 5 hours, and I had a hard time getting them out the door to go home. I imagine in the summer when there are more people it probably would not be quite as fun, but in the winter my grandkids practically have the play area to themselves. Great place on cold winter days

This is hands down one of the nicest railroad museums I have visited. The facilities are great, and the rolling stock and locomotives have been expertly restored. Also have a great model railroad. Across from the Strasburg Railroad

Many real locomotives throughout the ages--some which you may climb aboard, some which one may climb to look in the window, one which contains an interactive simulation of you as the engineer, model trains which go with the push of a button, model trains on which you set the course, and make the train run on that course, with a remote, toy Geotracks and wooden trains, and a layout of an area, in which model trains run around (It wasn't working during this trip, but we've seen it before.), are some of the many things you'll be able to see and do at this wonderful museum. It's primarily all on one level; as I recall, the second level is mainly for observation. If you're combining going to this museum, with a regular train ride at Strasburg Railroad, one receives a discount when buying the combination ticket. We come to this museum yearly, and are already looking forward to our next trip.

The day we visited there was a salute to the military. Costumed people walked around dressed in period garb which made it a lot of fun. An orchestra played and there were many tables set up with interesting information of the military and trains through the years. We had a 3 year old with us, and he was excited to board several of the cars. The experience gave me a renewed appreciation of trains in our history. We also took the opportunity to ride the Strasburg railroad train which is across the street. It was cool that day, so each car had it's own heater stove which added to the fun. Enjoyed seeing the little towns along the way. I imagine it is even more fun in the summer when you can get off and stroll around.

Didn't think my wife would find this place very interesting. She did and couldn't stop taking pictures. Really well done. I wish they let you climb into more of the pieces. There were a couple cabooses that were open. The rest you can climb up stairs and look in but not go in.

Trains, trains, trains! The history of this country's growth is right here. The displays and rolling stock illustrate how important the PA Railroad was to the nation and you could take picture of everything especially from the "catwalk" which bridges over the trains. The miniature train displays were among my favorites to see. The gift shop was outstanding for a train enthusiast.

Fabulous restoration of old trains and cars. They even give you a chance to see under one of the grant old steamer. Marvelous train layout with running trains. There is a fee but well worth the visit it just across from the Strasburg rail road train rides.

Visited in November, 2014. Huge building. Fantastic collection. My only complaint is that I would have liked more of the equipment to have been accessible (i.e. be able to see inside). So if you're looking to get your nose inside, this might not be the place for you. Still, the whole place is very well maintained and designed, and the collection is lovingly maintained.Recommended.

First time to the train museum. Trains were in great repair, had real life like displays, and several tour persons to take you inside a few of trains. Learned a lot about Trains and the PA railroad.
