We just came back from the Poconos area and this park had outstanding views. Even though the water was frozen and the weather was very very cold, the area is very clean and beautiful and calm. Nice to relax and get cozy. A bit lonely, but I guess it was due to the cold weather.

This was my second time visiting a state park in the US. It was a holiday weekend parking was limited but we were able to find a spot quickly. The park was clean and the bathrooms were clean too. There were plenty of picnic benches available. Boats and kayaks can be rented. Kids can play on the playground. There were food, beverages and snacks available for purchase. We didn't go camping but just spent the day at the lake. I didn't go swimming due the fact that the water was freezing and I am from an island. I would love to go back to go camping and kayaking.

This was my first visit to a state park in Pennsylvania. If this one is typical, they have an excellent state park system! It was very clean and well kept with new bathrooms and newly paved areas. We stayed in what they call a "camper cabin" ($45/night)(also seemed new), which is a cabin that has heat and electricity, beds, and a table, but no plumbing, so you have to use the campground bathrooms, which are all very new (at least in the Pickeral Point camping area). The lake is really nice, with a lot of inlets so there is always quiet water somewhere. They appear to have good fishing too, but you need a license. There are lots of trails for hiking when there is no snow, and xc skiing when there is. There are some sand beaches on the lake too. I will definitely go back to this park again!

We have camped at many state parks, in multiple states, and rank this at the very top. The facilities are well maintained, recreational opportunities abound, the hiking trails are abundant, scenic and well marked, there is a high level of security, and the park is both child-friendly and pet-friendly. We stayed in a cabin and, while the cabin is designated as being "rustic," it included a modern stove and refrigerator, a dining table with seating for 6, an outdoor covered porch, a fireplace, and a modern, private bathroom and shower. We hope to visit again many times.

We went to the park for camping the Labor Day weekend. It is a really nice place. The place is safe and clean. The families camping here are friendly. I couldn't figure out any drawbacks of staying here for a weekend.Boating and fishing here is fantastic. If you don't have a boat, you could rent it here at a reasonable price, say around 30 bucks for 2 hours kayak. It just cannot be beaten!Oh, I'm already missing there.

Promise land as the name goes is truly a beautiful and serene state park. The lake, trails and the beach...one can spend days in this state park without getting bored. We camped in the Deerfield campground and enjoyed it very much. Very clean park with nice showers and nice beaches for kids to play and for adults to canoe, kayak. Great trails for hiking. All in all, love this state park and we will be back here again next year.

Wonderful state park where we camped out in tents over the weekend. Very safe as you will see park rangers making their runs throughout the day and night (they are very discreet so as not to disturb anyone). The bathrooms are so well maintained and clean, they are almost spotless Very family friendly and who doesn't love a couple of quiet days in the great wilderness :) The hiking trails are alright, but the lake and the small beach are nice. The scenery around Pickerel Point is pretty fantastic. Go kayaking, swimming or play volleyball around the beach, or just hang out at the camp site and it will be a couple of days very well spent. Just take warm clothes with you summer clothes as it might get really cold at night....

We have stayed here multiple times and never have been disappointed. Pickeral Point was newly remodeled. Lower Lake is in great shape. It is one of those parks you purposely plan you trip to try to stay there. We have 24ft class C. Very wooded and quiet. Bathhouses are well maintained. Highly recommend to all.

Great state park. Clean water for swimming, nice picnicking areas, canoe rentals, great trails for hiking through mountain laurel and rhodies. Slightly off the beaten path allows for safe biking riding along roads. Camping site was average. Clean, modern facilities a nice bonus.

We haven't been here in a number of years but just made a trip last week.It is even better than before! The have expanded the beach area along the shore which allows much less crowding for swimmers and sun-lovers. The park is kept clean and this is in part to the people who go and pay attention to the rules - clean up after yourselves. The restrooms were also clean. The snack area was open and doing a decent business. There are places you can stop on the way for sandwiches but why bother when the snack area is open and costs only a little more. This is a great place for families where you can swim, hike, catch some rays, row, canoe, or just chill on the grass and read a good book. The view is awesome. I can't imagine why it was so long since we last visited but we will not wait that long again!

Our family has been coming to Promised Land State Park for nearly 50 years. Its difficult to know where to begin with the natural beauty of the area, the wildlife, the water activities or the hiking. We did everything possible during our last visit. We participated in three organized activities with Allison the new park Naturalist, fished every day (lots of fish but no big ones) canoed on the upper lake and saw lots of wildlife including four black bears and we even spent an afternoon at one of the beaches. During this visit we stayed in one of the 12 cabins but in years past we have also camped or stayed at a nearby local motel. We can not wait to get back again in the fall and next spring for the opening of trout season.

A good time to get away from it all. Such a large lake, with a road that you can bike on with very little traffic ( 3 cars in 4 hours ). Lots of flowers, scenery, and nature to relax you!

OMG what a gorgeous day to be out on the lake in a paddle boat last Saturday. The weather was perfect and the view just awesome. We had a great time in the paddle boat. Had a tough time deciding what to rent - kayaks, paddle boat, row boat, canoe, they had it all at reasonable prices (but no credit cards - lol). Bathrooms super clean and the wildlife was great. Even saw a snake. Will absolutely go again.
