Interesting site to see. Also nice and modern sculptures. Could have been larger, almost passed it. Will be visiting again during the summer months when its not bitter cold outside.

The memorial is right outside of town. A lovely Memorial to an excellent athlete. Interesting facts for anyone who is interested in the history of Jim Thorpe. We have visited the memorial more than once. Easy to get to and parking is right there.

Incredible the great triumphs of Jim Thorpe. He was a great football & baseball player, also practiced basketball.Won two olympic medals in the same Olympic games .... decathlon and pentathlon.Had not much time to visit Jim Thorpe "the town" .... but we walked around like 2 hours and is really nice .... some called it the little Switzeland of America ..... the town is really pretty and has a nice architecture .... worth the drive.

Not in the central part of town. The memorial is beautiful and highlights Jim Thorpe's athletic achievements nicely. Definitely worth checking out.

Statues and info boards give tribute to this great athlete. A quiet place good for meditation, history, and remembrance.

It is a very nice memorial to a great sports player in our history. It has the tomb and two statues of Jim Thorpe. There's some odd thing some high school students attempted to weld together and call a "statue", it doesn't really contribute anything to the site. Interestingly, the soil for the memorial is from Jim Thorpe's native Oklahoma and Stockholm where he participated in the Olympics.

This was my first visit to Jim Thorpe, PA, and I was most surprised as to how beautiful it is. I am from Western PA, where old towns like this are in a fast decay giving up their history, with crime and illegal drugs the main industry. I drove in for a day after Christmas during the unusual warm weather, from my summer home in the Poconos to discover a quaint little town with locals bent on saving its heritage. My main interest was seeing the final resting place of the great athlete, Jim Thorpe. But, was a little disappointed in its location outside of town. I thought being the holiday week, there would be more going on in town. Sure, the little shops were nice and the locals wonderful.. But, perhaps some Christmas activities would have been nice. I spent time in the Opera house (made a donation), museum (another donation) and drove past the mansions. I will be back for the train trips next summer. You need to see this town that time forgot with beautiful architecture. It is a gem worth saving.

The memorial is beautiful and well kept. There are always visitors taking photos and reading about this amazing man. Well worth spending some time here.

Really not much to see aside from the memorial a couple of statues, and several plaques which tell the story of this great athlete.

Is a multi piece, outside, memorial to the athlete and one not to be missed. Make sure you go on a clear day.

This is a gorgeous little town. The shops are quaint and you feel as though you stepped back in time. There are horse drawn carriages you can ride,a wonderful train, a magnificent gorge brightly colored with Autumn leaves in all their splendor. During this festival there are people singing folk -like songs in different areas. Wonderous smells of baked corn on the cob and breads and pies and kennel corn. There is even a Mansion you can visit and many many other sites to see. I can see why it once was called the Gateway to the Poconos.

Jim Thorpe is a quaint little town nestled in a valley between the mountains. It has really nice little gift and antique shops in town. The train ride over the Lehigh Gorge is a must. It's a beautiful scenic ride with a lot of history given through the ride.It has a tour of the old jail where the Molly Maguires were kept and prosecuted during the civil war. There is a ghost tour of the jail on the first 3 Saturdays in Oct. for a minimal fee.But it is well worth the time. The town also has some good pubs and restaraunts for lunch and dinner. We ate in The Molly Maguires Pub and Steak house. The food was good and worth the price,

And interesting sculpture garden, a good place to learn about Jim Thorpe. A nice quick stop, not much time needed here. Grounds and gardens were wonderfully kept, sculptures were impressive.

Located in what seemed a "distant" location from the city center, though it is easily accessible, and not really very far. Interesting storyboards tell of the legend, minus the "warts and all" aspects of his life. Nice tribute to the highlights of his life and career, and though the trip to see the memorial was sort of an afterthought for us, we enjoyed the experience.

This town is a gem, self tour the beautiful historicc homes on Main St. You can take a train ride out of a gorgeous train station, and tour the Packer mansion. Worth a stop if you are sightseeing in beautiful N.E. Pa.
