We brought our 8 year old son here. He LOVED IT, because you can feed the horses, goats, rams and deer. They have two black bear and a Siberian Tiger. Also, 4 monkeys. Neat place, but we do question the health of some of the animals. Pens could have been cleaner and the facility is not kept up well. The gift shop smells HORRID. I MEAN HORRID. Get your tickets for the animalland and GET OUT OF THE GIFT SHOP! Kids will love the animals!

This is a neat little zoo for people of all ages to visit. Be sure to buy a bag of food to feed to the animals. Many of them will come right up to you and eat from your hand. I especially liked the deer and the goats. It was funny watching the geese follow us down almost the entire trail when they realized we had food. Overall, it's reasonably priced and worth checking out. There are a lot of people complaining about the smell of cat urine. This is definitely an issue inside the gift shop. It is very strong and makes the gift shop unpleasant to browse around in. Although I enjoyed interacting with the animals I did not browse the gift shop because the smell was intolerable. I really hope the owners get a professional cleaner in there and take care of that because it's not healthy for anyone to be breathing that in.

On a recent trip through Wellsboro, I took guests to visit Harrison Point and stopped at Animal Land on the way back. I had not visited Animal Land in perhaps 6 plus years. Time has not been kind to this zoo. Appears that owners have no sense of care for animals or environment; which ultimately impacts their business. Based on recent reviews; as well as my own experience... This place will not survive into the future... As written by others; the cat urine smell in the gift store in so overwhelming our group felt sick; and even avoided using the bathroom; due to cat urine smell. We never even considered eating at this location for fear of food poisioning. We did take a tour of the zoo; and like others stated, was very sad. The state of the pens was poor; and some animals appeared to be malnurished for sure... I would not recommend wasting your money.... at least until a "major" change is made!

I am shocked at the horrible conditions these animals are forced to live. The bears and the tiger especially they had very little room. We went out with feed and the animals seemed starved. The gift shop may be able to sell merch if it weren't for the smell of cat urine permeating the entire shop. I wouldn't let my daughter touch anything.

Upon entering the gift shop, all you can smell is cat urune. GROSS! I love cats but there were cats all over the gift shop. On the tables, in the clothes display. I picked up a T-shirt I was interested in but immediately threw it back because it smelt like cat piss. Again, GROSS. Everything smelt of it. Even the bathroom smelt of it. There were 7 of us who visited and every single person was disgusted. THEN, we went into the zoo and OMG! The condition of some of the animals were very sad! The cages were disgustedly dirty. I know its a zoo but the cages needed better taking care of. Barely any water or food for these animals and some of theanimals are in bad shape. They have a tortoise shed with 2 of them. One was alive but all of us who looked insist the 2nd one was dead! I don't know how this place is still running but it needs shut down. The cages look like they are in their last straws and not very safe. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!

On our way to the "grand canyon" we a family of 16, decided to stop and see the Zoo.. The animals were tromping around in watery feces, a bear is in a yard fence only and just laying there. The bear in the actual rusty falling apart cage was pacing and clawing our corn we threw into the cage to eat. The Monkeys thighs and butts are beat red and raw with huge yellow green sores on each hind cheek. Heart breaking really as they looked at me with human eyes and I cried. I told them I am so sorry they are being treated like this and im going to ask for help for them. Tiger - ok they had one in this chain link fence enclosure.. OMG!! There is a reason why real zoo's have moats around the lions and tigers and bears.. That is not safe.. And the tiger just laid there and didn't move.. The tourist store was filled with cute cats that roam free , however the ammonia smell of cat urine was nauseating.. What got me was they are down the road from state forest and state land with DEC. How can they ignore the way these animals are being treated is beyond me.. Phone calls have been made.. Horrific for our young children to see such things. FYI our age group was 3 months up to 60's.

Very sad, conditions of some of the animals were very poor, especially the monkeys. The Bear enclosure was the last straw and had me walking right to the exit. So sorry that I gave these people my money!

The first thing you notice to walking into the gift shop/store is the overwhelming scent of cat urine. The animals all were in too-small exhibits, and did not seem happy. The wallaby had no shade, the bears had no room to play or even take a bath, the alpacas had matted down fur and looked as if they needed baths, and the walkway through the whole zoo was uneven and difficult at times to walk on.

Keeo driving by. The canyon is the best attraction. I feel bad for the animals, they deserve better. Smelly, dirty, rude staff, and the feeling of needing a shower if you visit this place!

If those three things are something you're interested, then feel free to stop. Otherwise: KEEP DRIVING. We were on our way to the PA Grand Canyon and saw these "rustic" signs. As a biologist, I am always excited for any zoo: large or small. Before we crossed the road, we could smell urine. At first, my husband said "Oh, it's just zoo smell". Upon entering the "gift shop" the smell was so intense I started to gag. We did not make it more than ten paces into the gift shop without retreating back to fresh air. I cannot attest to the condition of the zoo, or the rest of the gift shop because we figured, if the entrance was this bad, it could only get worse. For some ungodly reason, we still opted to get food at the snack bar. We were surrounded by buzzing flies, a colony of domestic cats, and the cat urine smell. All of which were obviously an appetite stimulant. (Insert extreme sarcasm here). The service was awful. No hellos, no smiles, no have a nice days. No eye contact for that matter. Just took our money and gave us our acceptable food. The fries were okay, the chicken was gross, and the ice cream was freezer burnt. We opted to eat in our car, away from the smell, away from the cats, away from the flies. Save your time. Save your money. Do NOT go to this "zoo". It is awful.

Was not impressed with this zoo. Was not maintained very well, areas in the zoo were run down and in bad shape and some animals looked unkept and not healthy to say the least. Reminded me of something out of a Stephen King novel.

Front entry and gift shop to this roadside zoo smells of cat urine. The two bears that they have are kept in horrible enclosure; too small, cement floor, rusted iron bars and water tubs too small for animals to get into and cool off. Cruel confinement. Bears pace continuously out of complete boredom. Enclosure in full sun.Tiger in too small an enclosure with a tiny bathing pool that has no water in it because the workers can't get in to clean it. The hoofed animals have OK enclosures, but some looked underweight. This place should not have the large animals, they are unable to care for them humanely.

Visited on July 15, 2014. I echo many of the other reviews. Cats everywhere along with an extremely strong cat pee smell-especially in the 'gift shop'. The owner was nice but the place is poorly kept. The animals and facility need help. I thought several of the cages were too cramped (bears, tiger, fox, kangaroo to name a few). It was disappointing and I left feeling rather sad for all those animals. Even my 4 year old wondered why the bear cage was so small.I would not recommend going here. Instead, save your money and do something else...anything else.

I was born in Wellsboro. Was raised 30 miles north of Wellsboro. I visited Animal Land many times as a child. I have not lived in Tioga county for some 26 years now. I visited Animal Land in 2000 and it was as I remembered it. I now live in Florida and visited Animal Land on July 9, 2014, while on vacation. My husband and I took our youngest child to see and pet some animals. I personally am an animal lover, particularly cats but, I am NOT a fan of cat spray. Once you cross the road from the parking lot, the cat spray aroma begins. The entire building INSIDE and OUT reeks of cat spray. It is as if everything is saturated in it. I literally was trying to hold my breath until we exited the building to view the animals. The bathrooms are located down a small hallway and even inside the bathrooms reeks of cat spray. It was beyond nauseating. The other issue I take with Animal Land is the condition of the animals. Almost all the animals had patches of fur missing. I am not sure why but, it made them look sad and unhealthy. What tipped me over the edge was the condition of the black bear. First of all he was HUGE and in a very small cage. He was pacing back and forth, back and forth, as if he was stir crazy. His back hips seemed to be bothering him, as he was limping on them. Honestly, how can anyone enjoy seeing animals who are miserable in their environment?!? Animal Land, get it right or, CLOSE!

It was horrible gift shop was so so dirty and all you could smell was cat pee! The poor animals not well taken care of at all. This dump should be shut down!
