Really interesting place, intelligently laid out logical tour. Lots of cool displays including interesting windows on local prominent citizens and we had not idea of the contribution made by Bay City in WW2. Lots of cool stuff to look at. Upstairs in the maritime museum is another world altogether. Nice and tidy building. Take at least an hour to look around fully. I am amazed it is free!

Wonderful place to visit, learn, and people watch. While some choose to forget their history, if you do you can brush up on it here.

I liked that there was a lot of information about Bay County. Sometimes there was a bit too much info, since I'm the kind of person who wants to read everything, and it might have been better to have more photos or graphics. Still, I definitely recommend a visit here for anyone curious about the history of this area.

This historical museum is fabulous! There were so many industries happening in the Bay City area for the last 150 years it is astounding. I kept saying to my sister "Who Knew all this was here?" I was fascinated and we spent a lot of time there in the museum and saw a lot of information on many family and friends of her husband.

Soooo much text ....light on display items / vignettes.Text inside glass cases difficult to read due to glass glare. So much to read and not so much to view. Was disappointed nothing about sunken ship shells / remains .....that were visible first time in a long time at the BC riverfront ......since we were there for the special ship / marine exhibit. Overall nice decor & some cool permanent displays. Gift shop has really Great books!Could use some local art for sale too!

They have so much information about the Bay County area. It is free to go through , but you can leave a donation if you want. No pressure a box is there if you choose to. Very detailed.

I didn't have high expectations for a small, local museum. I was wrong. This is a very nicely laid-out and informative venue. I learned a lot about Bay County and had a good time. The ladies on staff were very helpful and very informative. This was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

I went there to do some historical research on my ancestors. They have a nice small library of maritime books, particularly of the Great Lakes, and books the local area. Including some old books dating back to the 1920s and earlier. I even found a book that I had checked out of the local public ibrary 30 years ago that is now in this library. The staff was very helpful.
