I am almost positive Ella Sharp is rolling in her grave. I doubt when she graciously sat aside 562 acres in the city limits of Jackson and surrounding area to be kept as a park, she thought that someday people would decide to kill the animals there. For years now the City of Jackson in their infinite wisdom has decided to hire snipers to hunt and kill the deer population there. Next I am sure will be the squirrels and birds and anything else that may eat someone's flowers. The public pool has been closed in lack of funds, but somehow they have managed to purchase a liquor license for the golf. Just what Jackson needed, more drunks on the roads. Which is more dangerous, drunks or deer?

Ella Sharp Park is a large park located in Jackson, Michigan. There are many activities offered at the park. I especially enjoy strolling around the park and visiting the Ella Sharp Park Museum. This is a very beautiful park.

This large green area on the SW side of Jackson, MI has plenty to offer on a beautiful day. The golf course is on the north side, a public pool and putt golf course are across on the south side of 4th St. Play grounds, sand lots, running trails, old stand of trees and planted flowers beds add to the beauty of this rich area. Historical buildings tell the story of the Ella Sharp family. A treasure gifted to the City of Jackson, decades ago.

Ella Sharp Park is a wonderful host for soccer games. Jackson has a large number of families that participate in the soccer program, and Sharp Park has the capacity to host the program with ease. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful facility in our back yard.

Ella Sharp Park also has a full-size golf course, but its miniature golf course is great fun for even those who don't have a Big Bertha driver. The place is neat, clean, well-kept, and has newish clubs for players. The course is nestled amongst huge ancient trees, with water features, and varied hole elevations. The old pines and oaks provide wonderful shade, and the whole course is neat as a pin. "Greens" are newly done, and there are both "skill" holes and "luck" ones for all types of players. Candy, snacks, and drinks are available, with two big picnic tables, (with napkin holders!), to use under a nice awning. We had a great time and will return!
