This is a great place to stop for delicious smoked fish, my favorite is the whitefish. They jerky (beef and turkey) is also pretty amazing!

There are several yummy things up for sale at Carlson's Fisheries. Their fresh fish and sausage is amazing. WARNING: This place is not for vegetarians, especially because of the smell!

Very nice, small and cute place. Very friendly. Fish is excellent, especially Fish Sausage - never had that before. Inside and outside looks like a old trustable establisment. Worth checking out. If you like a smoked fish of course.

We purchased smoked whitefish here and took to The Village Cheese Shanty for sandwiches. The fish was really good. The person taking care of was very friendly and helpful.

Outstanding friendly staff...Amazing smoked fish.....Fresh from the smoker. We were here twice in a four day visit to Traverse City. It IS that good!!!!

While doing the Lake Michigan Circle Tour & the Leelanau Penninsula wine tour, I had to stop at Carleson's Fishery to pick up their fish sausage for a friend. It's a busy little place right on the dock of Fishtown (Leland). While I've had lots of smoked fish & fish spreads before, but I've never had fish sausage. After getting a generous sample of the sausage, I bought some for my friend & some for myself. Since we weren't heading back to our hotel in Traverse City right away, they were so helpful in packing it on ice so that it wouldn't spoil. We have since converted many folks to their fish sausage.

Smoked whitefish right off the rack. Ordered their smoked turkey breast last Christmas (shipped to Florida) and it was fantastic.

We normally buy whitefish and smoked whitefish at Carlson's, but last week we tried the lake trout. It was awesome! We vacation at Glen Lake and make the 20+ mile trip several times during our two weeks up north. It is always worth the trip to Carlson's. As other reviewers have noted, get there in the morning for the best and freshest selection.

It's not really a big store and the main items where smoked whitefish, lake trout, and salmon. There was also fish sausage and spread. Unless you bought a cooler, you really can't buy too much and drive home with all the different items without spoiling. It was disappointing they were out of Whitefish by 1pm. The smoked salmon was much better than the lake trout. Though the sign on it said 'farm raised'. Not exactly from Lake Michigan but still tasted good. I wish I was able to try the spread and sausage but could not eat that much for two people...

We enjoy smoked fish, so have sampled it throughout the U.S. and Europe. Never have we had better smoked whitefish; it was spectacular. Their smoked salmon is good as well, but it was overshadowed by the trout. Must be because it's so fresh off the boat when they get it. They have quite a history as well; it's been in the family for generations.

Read the reviews and was excited to check it out. Was there around 1:00 PM and the were all out of ALL the smoked fish. The girl behind the counter was very rude. Won't go back, ever!

Fish spread. Jerkey. White fish. Salmon. Smoked white fish. I can't make a trip to Leelanau County without purchasing all of this.

Great old-time fish shop with absolutely wonderful smoked fish. Personal favorite: the smoked whitefish! There may be a line to purchase the fish, but the wait is definitely worth it. Enjoy!

I couldn't believe they had fish sausage! I don't eat meat so anything you can do with fish is ok in my book. What a great thing to bring home for parties! Of course we never leave without some White Fish and Smoked Salmon. Just love Carlson's !
