Took Grandsons they were thrilled to go through it. Lots of history! They also liked the museum and gift shop. They each got a couple of things to remember their trip

Not only an impressive museum but to take an actual tour of the submarine and "touch the room" (galley) where an appendectomy was performed during the war. Talk about efficiency of design for "living" underwater and in wartimes !!!

If your a veteran or not, this piece of history is a must see. You will get a real sense of what war time in a cramped space was really like. Enjoyed every minute of the tour.

This submarine is a gem from WWII, very well preserved and right by a channel off Lake Michigan. We got the tour (free) with an amazingly knowledgeable Navy veteran. The museum is great too. It has a cafeteria (closed when we went, 12/22) and a gift shop. Worthy to visit with kids ages 6-99+

My husband and I spent over 2 hours here. I know that most would not have spent that long, however, everything at this attraction is worth checking out. Very interesting and educational. The inside of the submarine is incredible.

Modern museum building has all kinds of interesting facts and artifacts for the WWII buff and kids seem interested too. Submarine tours and scouting sleep-overs in the decorated submarine are once in a lifetime options. I think the faint diesel fumes could bother some on the sleep-overs but from what I have heard, the kids love it.

This was the first time either my husband or I had been in a submarine. To see how cramped everything is, was an eye-opener. And the museum that is with the sub is very interesting. Learned a lot about the USS Silversides and USS Flier submarines and the huge part they each played in WWII history. This is a attraction that will appeal to all ages. A must-see in Muskegon.

Take the kids or just the adults. Excellent museum with a for real US submarine you can tour and a US Coast Guard Cutter too! Great displays in the museum. Really a nice place to spend the afternoon.

this weekend, my son and i camped onboard for the second time, first with cub scouts and now with boy scouts! it was even more fun this time. the tours and museum are quite informative and entertaining, with abundant "photo ops". many exhibits were recently added, so if you haven't been there within the last 3 years, a revisit is in order!

This museum offers a great view of WWII history and has an incredible submarine to tour. The coast guard cutter was nice but not near as interesting as the sub. The museum exhibits were well done and the staff were friendly.

I took my 3 grandsons to the museum, submarine and USCG ship. It was fun. The kids were only marginally interested in the museum even thought the exhibits are very good. The high point of the visit was the sub and the kids loved it. I highly recommend this as a way to spend a couple of hours.

PROS: very clean, well-organized museum inside with a lot of diverse information about the war, submarines and the challenges faced by soldiers; photogenic façade with numerous artifacts ripe for captured digital memories; you get to tour both the submarine and the coast guard cutter McClane (which they are raising funds to renovate). Clean and well restored interior of the submarine; jovial receptionist and gift shop clerk; good selection in the gift shop; a great 3 hour stop located in a picturesque location- you can check out the beach before or after visiting the museum. Interesting miniature models of the submarine and ships; restrooms are large and clean. CONS: none, I highly recommend stopping by. There were even members of the armed forces around with their vehicles when we visited.
