Awesome state park with awesome amenities. Friendly park service and large campsites. Camp store available. The beach is beautiful. Very clean. Close to town.

The beach at this park is very clean. Great for swimming. The dock is huge. Plenty of room for fishing. Typical camp sites. some larger than others. Pretty open so you really have no privacy. This is a great park to take children camping.

We didn't use the lake for boating, fishing or swimming and dogs have limited places to walk, even chihuahuas, but the campsites are spacious for a Michigan State Park. This park is best for young families with small kids who love the water. Gaylord is close by and has some very enjoyable restaurants and plenty of shopping.

Otsego Lake State Park...what can I say? This is a really great park! The beach area is nice, haven't had any issues with swimmer's itch there at all. There are picnic tables and some grills. There is a nice pathway around the park for a stroll. There is even a platform in the water for some fishing. Highly recommend!

We spent a week there in September. The park was not at all crowded but the restrooms and showers were cleaned every morning. The staff we saw were pleasant & friendly. We chose a site that backed up to the railroad tracks & road and were not at all disturbed by trains or traffic. The location was very conveinent tor Gaylord, elk watching and hiking both the Jordan River and Pigeon River areas. We will stay here again.

We spent the day there. Not having been to a state park in years did not expect much but this place was spotless. Beach area was very clean. Rented Sea-doos locally and had a blast.

Great family campground, new playground, fishing pier, boat, kayak rentals. Quiet at night everyone seem friendly. Bring wagon if u have little ones or bikes to go to beach with bathrooms. Camp store closed but owner right across street was super great. Bring own firewood stuff we bought was green. The county park lights off fireworks and can see them perfect and just walk back to site. Staff was best . Always had a smiles and keep this large park up. If u have anyone that Needs wheelchair access this park is best.

Great beach, camp store, fishing, swimming, and much more. If you love camping this is the park for you. Just a few miles from downtown Gaylord and not too far from Grayling. The boat ramp is easy to get to and the lake is clean.

Yes, that's right. My family first camped here in 1957. I remember standing on the sandy point watching the Northern Lights display one night. I remember watching the first US Satellite rotating across the night sky. I learned how to fish at this lake. I learned how to water ski while camping out at this park. And, when my family came along I repeated the process all over again. This park may not be the newest or the largest park in our State Park System. But, as far as I'm concerned, this is a great park for family camping, swimming, boating and fishing. The town of Gaylord with all of it's stores and businesses isn't far away. And, the park is not on a major expressway. You'll find it south of Gaylord and north of Waters along old Michigan highway 27. Campers, tent camping, bring your boat, have lots of fun!

Good beach and eating area. Clean and neat. Good spot to sun and picnic. Lots of campers. Nice spot in Gaylord.

Sorry, but if your looking for the solitude of the north country try another State Park! This is a nice state park for a day visit with a very nice long beach and facilities, with shallow water for young children. BUT, if you want to camp overnight, you are next to a railroad that will wake you no matter how sound of sleeper you are, and old 27 is fairly busy, but the sound of truck tires and engines on I-75 are WAY TO LOUD to enjoy the sounds of the north woods, of which there are plenty of around your campsite.

We didn't spend much time at the State Park - just went over to see how much it had changed (we camped there when we were kids - 50 years ago). We did walk on the beach and wade in the lake. It was clean and the beach was as nice as we remembered.

I have listed different state parks as a favorite, but we really enjoyed this park, as it was our first time camping there, though we have had a couple of picnics there before, but it has been several years. Lots are fairly good sized, with large mature shade trees covering most of the park. Our site was dirt/sandy. The usual picnic table and firepit provided. We had a nice view of the lake from across the street, as the campground sits on a bluff. There are 3 restroom/shower buildings in this park, and I thought that was great. One is pretty new, with environmental practices in place. The other two are quite old, but in good shape. There are 3 beaches. All are very sandy. Two of the beaches are wide, sandy, exceptionally clean, provided with picnic tables, trash cans, benches. We were thrilled with the public day use area, as well as the camper's beach. Very, very clean and well kept. There is a lovely "peninsula or point" in the day use area with grills, and tables. It is lovely and can be accessed thru paved pathways as well as dirt paths. The fishing dock is accessed by going out on the point and it is quite large. Very nice. The boat ramp is also right next to this area, with a nice, but short dock provided. We thought this excellent, also. Large parking areas, with a park store, additional covered picnic areas, with firewood, ice, and other grocery items available. We did think the store could have used a lot more merchandise. They also sell ice cream. The camper's beach is accessed by a wonderful boardwalk that is wheelchair, stroller and walker friendly. No steps needed! The old steps are there have you. This ends on a nice deck with bench seating all the way around, with a few picnic tables on it, and then there are more tables out under the trees and on the beach. How lovely. The third beach is the dog beach-we were so surprised. There were some happy dogs that day! There is also a basketball court, horseshoes, a baseball field, playground (this was the one thing that could use improvement) and more picnic areas near these places. Bike racks all over the place. The rangers were more than friendly and there are a few items for sale in the office-coffee cups, t-shirts, teddy bears (one of which I bought-a MI DNR bear..lol) etc. Lots of literature for the surrounding area. Perfectly located, only 7 miles from Gaylord. There are a few restaurants nearby, along with a couple convenience stores and golf courses. We were truly pleased with our visit and highly recommend the park to anyone.
