A lot to do in Frankenmuth no matter what season of the year. indoor things in the winter as well as just being outside in the town in the summer. Many great places to eat and visit, including a zoo.

We were strolling through town and stumbled across this place. We decided to do the wine tasting paired with chocolates for $5.00. It was a great experience. The gentleman that greeted us was very friendly although the young woman that took us through the wines and chocolates was a little less passionate. She seemed as if she didn't want to be there. Maybe we caught her on a bad day. All in all a great experience.

Need I say more? They pair great wines with chocolates for a cool tasting. For 5 dollars you can try 5 of each and then pick any wine to try as your 6th choice, They were very knowledgeable about the wines.

My husband I tood the 35 minute tour. I would really recommend doing the wine and chocolate tour instead. The 35 minute was very relaxing but it really only was a boat ride that went in one direction for around 15 minutes and then turned around and went the other way for 15 minutes. Our driver told us little facts about area as we went. They sell beer on the boat so if you want wine you have to purchase it inside before the ride. The boats are clean and quiet. Even on a cold day it was pleasant as they kept the interior enclosed. The deck area is nice. It is quite a long walk down to the boat launch area and the stairs feel twice as high going back up!

My husband and I took the wine and chocolate boat tour. The cost was $20 each and included 7 wine samples, 5 chocolate samples, one full glass of wine and a one hour boat tour. The wine was good as was the small boat size. It was nice to not be lost on a sea of people on a big boat. The chocolate was just ok, but not bad. The views on the river were interesting but it would have been better if the tour guides told us about the area or what we were seeing. Overall, I would recommend this for the price. Please note that this is not accessible if you cannot climb stairs. You had to walk down about 3 flights of stairs to get to the boat.

This is a great little shop where you can taste chocolate and wine. The wine is not super fancy and on the sweet side (they do not carry a chardonnay), so it's not really to my liking, but it's still a good little stop in Frankenmuth. You can sit outside on their deck and have a beer or pop and the view of the river is nice. I have been on the wine and chocolate boat tour 3 times. (we live in town and take family) Let me tell you this: Your experience will all depend on who the two employees on the boat are. Twice I have had great hosts. The last time, 10/18, I had two college kids who didn't like the football team my family and I supported (weird, I know, but you'd get it if you lived here) and did not say a word about the history of Frankenmuth or the sites. There are a lot of good little stories along the boat ride that a knowledgeable employee could tell you about. It was not a big issue for my family, but we were hosting guests from Indiana who did not hear anything about Frankenmuth. It was a bit disappointing, especially since I had my other guests on the boat next to ours and they heard a ton of great Frankenmuth stories. The tour costs $20 for adults, $12 for kids. It is a nice quiet electric boat with comfortable seating. Overall, I would recommend stopping here if you are in Frankenmuth for the weekend. Maybe ask for a boat captain with a bit of Frankenmuth knowledge.

Firstly, I've taken two different boat tours on the Cass River with Frankenmuth FunShips in the few years and they have been excellent. One was just a wine tasting and the other was a pizza and wine cruise. Wonderful. However, this review is about the wine tasting done in their shop. Our ladies group stopped in around 4pm on Saturday to do a wine and chocolate tasting. There were six of us and we were able to get in shortly after we all paid and arrived. For the cost ($5), this was amazing! We tasted five chocolates and seven wines. The young man who guided us through the tasting was very personable, fun, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained how to do the tasting (what order, etc.), why the flavors/textures worked well together, and what combinations he would recommend. You do get two wines of your own choosing to taste...if you can get the mulled wine, I highly recommend it! He even warmed it up for us (soooooo good for fall)! The chocolates are made there in the shop and are very good. I ended up buying some at the end of the tour and several ladies in our group purchases some of the wines we tasted. It wasn't more than maybe 20-25 minutes in all but the variety or wines and chocolates you got to taste along with the great information you get about the combinations was totally worth the time. I would definitely recommend this if you aren't into taking a boat tour, need a break from shopping, or just want to see how you like their products.

My husband and I took the wine and chocolate tasting cruise on October 1. It was a beautiful day and the boat ride along the Cass River was so relaxing. Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He didn't really have a script, but rather reacted to the guests on the boat answering questions and taking cues from our conversations. Many times the guides on these types of things have scripted narration that can be quite dry, but John was great and could always answer our questions about the area.As for the wine, I prefer dry wines and usually do not like wines from northern states, but the variety, quality and taste of wines offered were very good. I bought a couple bottles of wine as well as some of the chocolates which were yummy. Not a wine drinker? No worries, the hosts of the FunShips will arrange to have beer available from brewery next door.I would definitely recommend the wine tasting cruise. For only $20 and an hour or so of your time, you can't beat it. The hosts/owners (can't remember their names) were wonderful and John our boat guide was terrific.

We didn't want to take the river cruise since it was a cool & rainy day, so we did the chocolate & wine tasting in the store. We didn't expect to enjoy the wines as much as we did. We normally drink dry red & white wines, but all of the samples were great! Our tasting was with Brad, who was so knowledgeable and friendly. They have a special area off the main 'store' with stand-up tables. As stated in the ads, for $5 you taste 6 wines paired with 5 hand-made chocolates. You are allowed to choose whichever wines you prefer from the list, but we went with Brad's suggestions and were not disappointed. We also tried the Port for an additional $1 and it was very good. Who knew Michigan made such great wines? And even though we prefer dry wines, we even took home some Peach/honey wine, it was that good. The chocolates were fantastic...and they are hand-made, not just homemade. I don't want to say how many of those we took home! You can only shop at the Christmas store and the Outlet Mall for so long, and you will eat way too much on your trip, so I definitely recommend the wine & chocolate tasting as a nice quiet aside to the rest of your trip.

Hosts Sara & Jon were excellent. For a very reasonable fee ($20.00) you can take a boat ride on the Cass River, get some tips from locals & enjoy wines & chocolates in a cozy atmosphere. Our hosts were extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the area and entertaining. Wines were well above what I expected from a local winery. Chocolates were purchased for return trip!

The river cruise was just the right amount of time on the water. The narrator was very knowledgeable. Price was very reasonable.

We really enjoyed our afternoon cruise on the river tasting different wines and tasting different chocolates with each wine. At the end there was also a full glass of our favourite wine. An enjoyable hour on the water and the weather cooperated (sunny and warm).

We booked the wine and chocolate tour and had nice time. The boat seated 10 and the motors were electric, so it was quiet. The wine was quality and the chocolates yummy, and the price was very affordable. They offer different tours as well, and lots of time slots are available.
