Have been to Paradise Playhouse twice and those of you familiar with New Theater in Overland Park will get the same experience but a smaller more personal venue with a better rate.

We have been season ticket holders for many years. We have given some of our tickets to others when we weren't able to attend and we continually asked when we will be going somewhere so they can use our tickets again. For the price, when compared to New Theater Paradise Playhouse is an exceptional bargain. You get dinner and a play for far less than elsewhere and have excellent seating. Minimal waiting for the buffet dinner and table service for your drinks and desert (if you are so inclined to purchase those items). Have renewed my tickets for 2014-2015 and look forward to the continued entertainment.

It was not Broadway, not even off, off Broadway. We saw WEEKEND COMENDY-it was entertaining! he food was very good, The seating is good anywhere you sit, the people working there are the BEST. For the price its well worth the money! I would suggest going early and taking advantage to tour this historic town!

Doors open at 6:00. You could actually arrive by 6:45 and still have time to go through buffet line, eat and watch show starting at 7:45. We watched the "Weekend Comedy" play which was okay except for an instance using Gods name in vain. That's where I draw the line. A couple of foul words used to depict certain circumstances is okay but going that far does not impress me with talent. Neither does one actor literally mooning another actor. The staff were all very friendly and the food (catered by the Golden Ox) was good. Location is old downtown area, plenty of parking. Probably would not go again. Once was enough but would say try it if you have nothing to do in the evening. Could have just been the specific play and the lines. I'm not a goody goody but neither am I entertained by curse words or a man dropping his pants from behind.

The Paradise Playhouse is always enjoyable and a great place to plan an evening! We have season tickets and always look forward to the plays, food, and wonderful service. The staff is always very friendly and inviting, from the moment they greet you at the door until you are exiting and once again, they are at the doors to see you off. The food is very good, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The plays are very well done, very professional and the actors couldn't be any better! The plays are typically humor or mystery, and we always leave with a smile on our face!

If you enjoy plays and good food, this is the place for you! There really isn't a bad seat in the house since the theater is terraced really well and it's not overly crowded with tables. I've seen 2 shows there in the past 18 months and enjoyed both. For most shows, a dinner buffet is included that is catered from Golden Ox. All the food is good but some of it is REALLY good! If you have room for it, don't skip the chocolate cake for dessert. There is more than enough to share. The price is very reasonable at either $30 or $32 for the show/dinner. Drinks and dessert are extra.

Easy online reservations. Tickets mailed to us timely. Buffett was great. Drinks prices were great. Quality of the entertainment was awesome!

The play was the best part of this event. Being KC born and raised, I was expecting food catered from The Golden Ox to be more steaks or prime rib for the price we paid for tickets - the tequila chicken, shrimp etc was acceptable but expected more. The service was sloooow (desserts and drinks were extra) and they appeared to be short staffed (our may have been new....). The play itself was good - you could hear every line. We saw "bathroom humor" and all 4 in our party thought it was a nice but different way to spend the evening. Eat at the Elms then see the play --

Saw Saving Grace. Was a decent play. Food was not as decent. Chicken was dry, brisket was cold, everything was salty. Really disappointing considering there are mentioned of the "Golden Ox" as the caterers. The suggestion of being there when doors open at 11:45 for a noon lunch & 1pm show... was WAY to early. We waited around for a long time between lunch & the start of the show.

The buffet was okay...not great. The murder mystery was okay...I've seen better. The intermission was too long...some people left.

Nestled in the historic town of Excelsior Springs, MO, is the Paradise Playhouse, which my bride and I experienced last weekend. While we were actually in town to experience the Excelsior Springs Airport's first annual chili flyin, arrangements were made to see a production at this welcoming venue. The production was well done, the actors obviously enjoying themselves and that was contagious with the audience. The dinner was delicious and the staff superb. It was a top notch experience and kudos go to the management. While we travelled to the Playhouse from the Twin Cities, how fortunate it is for those who live in the greater Kansas City area to have such a nice venue within easy driving distance! We will be back.
