The history in this little house is just amazing. It is full of really great information about Jesse James and his life. It should be seen by anyone interested in history.

I'm interested in the history of Jesse James so this was a had to stop for me. While I'm glad I went, I wouldn't go again. This can be said of many places I've visited, and I'm not saying you shouldn't go there once. It's a four room house (because that's what they lived in back then), left in the condition that Jesse family left it. The gentleman we had was very informative and gave stories, history, and such and said if we had any questions to ask. We didn't but I don't doubt any that if we had he wouldn't have been able to answer them, he was great.

This was interesting. Small 4-room house and didn't take long, but the entrance fee was quite reasonable. The gentleman who took the money was informed and shared stories. There is a recording that is played when you walk into the living room of the home that describes Jesse James' death. We enjoyed it.

Small, remember, it's just his house and where his life ended-good for 15 minutes. The personal attendant is part of the experience and knows the complete history and the gritty details.

It was interesting to see the home of Jesse James, however the staff was very unfriendly and not very eager to provide any information. They play an audio tape that loops over and over and thats about it. Couldn't even get a smile out of the young girl behind the counter.. Personally I think a quick picture of the exterior of his home would be more than enough for anyone!

Small little house packed with stuff to read about the James family. Highlight was to see the actual bullet hole in the wall from when Jesse was killed. Although the lady at the front was friendly, I would of liked her input more on the exhibits. She did play a short audio clip for us with information about the house. Fun to see but doesn't take long.

As others have said, you are greeted by an unenthusiastic teenager at the door that does nothing more than take your money. I would much rather have had someone from the historical society, or at lease someone that has some form of interest in Jesse James or his family. This girl never even cracked a smile, and only stopped texting long enough to take our money. The Jesse James House itself has not seemed to change much at all over the years. The same automated speech, the same small four rooms, with one or two new exhibits thanks to exhuming the grave site... If it weren't such a part of history, I would say to pass this by altogether, until they actually get someone in there to help breath life back into this museum.

I liked the history lesson but the house is very small and there really isn't all that much of a story to tell. It does do a good job of dispelling some myths about Jesse James and is to be commended for not over glamorizing his life.

Although relocated several times, this is the house Jesse James was shot. Conveniently adjacent to the Patee House. Stand in the parlor where he was shot. Read the information about the event. The adjoining room has all the details for the exhumation of his remains for DNA testing.

I've wanted to go to his house! As my family history is included with jesse james and his gang!! My great great great grandma Neumann fed his men as they came to the farm!! Sometime later my ggg grandma and my great grandpa's brother who was just an infant on a train when it got held up! When jesse James came to her exact booth he looked at her and remembered her kindness and let her go without any harm to her!!!

This is a piece of history that I find interesting and this muesum will be like stepping back in time as you enter. There are alot of artifacts here in this house. Jesse James, his wife and two children lived in this house, under a false name, up to the end of his life. His life ended here in this house and the hole in the wall still remains. There is a great movie to see and explain Jesse James final time of his life, before or after you visit this museum, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, with Brad Pitt. One must wonder why anyone could rob or kill anyone. Going through this muesum I had to ask myself if he was an American outlaw, bank robber, train robber, and murderer or a hero? When visiting this muesum then you need to also visit his birth place museum, in Kearney, Missouri, to put the whole story of his reasoning together.

Drove like a bat out of hell to get here before closing. Got Herr at 3:45 and they close at 4 but they had already locked the place and despite the curator clearly seeing us and some other folks at the gate, did not open up and told the other group no go despite the fact that it is an ex tremly small house and we would have been in and out before 4 anyways. Thanks for the drive for nothing and pissing me off.

I'm not much of a Jesse James fan but this place is next to the Patee House, which makes it an easy visit. It has some interesting artifacts, and if you enjoy going into 19 Century buildings, you may enjoy this stop.? You can take your child directly into the Carousel house without having to pay admission to the Patee House as well.

We were thrilled to be in the very home that Jesse James lived in and unfortunately met his demise It was smaller than I thought it would be. A lot of pictures of him but very little mention of his wife and children and did not see any pics of his family. It was a typical old west house with only 4 rooms. The teenage hostess, if you could call her that was bored out of her mind or just got out of bed and didn't seem to want to be there. A tour,even self done, is better if the host or hostess seems to like the subject you are visiting even if they are just there to take money. We would have like to have visited the Patee Hotel right next to it but we were kind of time pressed but may go back to see it. Visiting the sites of where our heritage started brings it more into reality
