We went to see the 1904 World's Fair exhibit, which was well done, interesting, and lots of variety to the displays (with photos, diagrams, sounds, etc.). Beautiful building.

We went on a rainy afternoon and it was educational but fun. Lots to see and read here. Will definitely go again since we didn't pay attention to the time and they were closing before we finished going thru the museum

This was a new discovery in Forest Park. Easily accessible from Lindel Ave. with ample parking in the vicinity. Exhibits change, but this time one interesting show focused on German immigration to Missouri in the mid-19th century. The exhibit was designed and organized in Germany and was shared with this Museum. It was interactive and informative. The curator was available to talk informally about the show. The other major exhibit focused on St. Louis and its 1904 Fair. Well-done and informative. Definitely worth a visit. There is no charge.

This place will tell you all you need to know about its glorious history including the World fair, civil war etc. Paying for the special exhibits would indeed prove a worthwhile investment - consider it as a small donation towards the preservation of this wonderful museum. Do visit the Library and Research centre if you have time. And don't forget to relish delicious sausages if you happen to find the cafe open.

Very informative and interesting. Exhibits were well-organized and easy to view. My only complaint was that the cafe was not open.

Me and my wife took our 1 year old to the History Museum to see the exhibit for the 250th Birthday of St. Louis. We also looked at the 1904 World's Fair exhibit. They had others to look at but they where pretty crowded. They history museum is free but a few of the exhibits do cost a little. Be sure to check the website to see what exhibits are available since they change them every few months. They do have a gift shop to purchase many things about St. Louis that you won't find anywhere else. I would definitely go here again to check out more that they have to offer.

Top notch displays. Excellent professional staff. Very helpful volunteers. I especially liked the current display on German immigrants to the area.

The Missouri History Museum is ALSO located in Forest Park. The Museum has many fine, rotating exhibits; free admissions except for special exhibitions. Parking is free, again hard to find. This is one of the problems with our Beautiful Crown Jewel, Forest Park. Something needs to be done to make parking more accessible and low-cost, considering all the attractions it houses - Zoo, Art Museum, Municipal Outdoor Theatre, Picnic Areas, Jewel Box, Missouri History Museum, Golf Course, etc.

I went to see the Louisiana Purchase exhibit. It was very well done, and, even though I thought I knew the subject, I learned quite a bit. I visited the St. Louis World's Fair exhibit, too, although I had seen it before. As a bonus, the 250 at 250 exhibit had just opened. I found it slightly disappointing, though. It incorporated a lot of trendy high-tech stuff, but that didn't necessarily work well. I wasn't able to listen to the stories at one of the "events" stations because one man didn't move while I was there, and I would rather look at 50 pictures at my leisure, where I can go back and forth and spend more time with some and less with others than have to sit and have to watch them projected on a screen. I do like the gift shop--was able to buy gifts for all my office mates there.

We went yesterday to see the 250 years of St. Louis history exhibit along with Utopia. Both exhibits were done very well with a nice amount of information in a very easy to read and follow format. Sometimes there is way too much information but this was not the case. The Utopia exhibit was about a group of German settlers immigrating to Missouri, the struggles they encountered, and the legacy left behind. We have been to the Museum multiple times and felt like these were the best exhibits we have seen.

This free museum is top quality. The exhibits, 250 Years St. Louis and the Louisiana Purchase were fascinating. We spent almost three hours here looking and reading. Lunch afterwards, at Bixley, in the museum building was a real treat with well prepared food and excellent service.

A free museum, it was well more than I had imagined. The special exhibit on the Louisiana Purchase was highly detailed and unbelievable. Another exhibit on the 1904 World's Fair was outstanding as well. Frankly, I ran out of time (2 hours) to really see anything else there.

Both my husband and I grew up in St. Louis and have visited many times since. We stumbled onto the museum looking for the art museum. The exhibits were interesting and well done. Well worth a visit.
