We went there based on TA reviews. Total disappointment. Granted more than half of the exhibits were closed and we were charged only 1/2 the admission prices. What was open was terrible. It was a mystery to us why the reconstructed home and contents of a freed afro American slave who did not appear to have accomplished anything in life, was even there. The work, for the potter for whom the museum was named, had his work totaling probable 30 pieces in one small exhibit pod - totally underwhelming. There was another exhibit - hard to describe what that was all about. Have to say we are museum goers and have given several examples of good and excellent reviews on TA. Also the "observation deck" Three stories high, lacked anything worth looking at. Suggestion - call ahead to see what exhibits are open an what their content is.

This museum is super small, but the exhibits are amazing, top notch and on par with world famous museums. Be sure to walk to the out buildings, and also take the elevator to the top floor to get a panoramic view of the coast. Ask for the info card which has a $2 discount for future visits.

Visiting the area and friends took us here. It is a beautiful Frank Gehry complex of five separate buildings and it hosts six galleries and the City of Biloxi arts center. It also has the historic Reed house on campus. I learned so much of the history of Biloxi from the tour of the home. The museum is wonderful.... the docents are very friendly and very knowledgable. This is a definite stop for art and architecture lovers. Wonderful art shop too!

Hadn't heard of George Ohr until I went to the museum. You'll be drawn in when you see it from the main rd. The buildings were designed by Frank Gehry...world famous architect. The exhibits and information are spot-on....and... getting to learn about this colorful man was something I hadn't expected and so glad I did.The exhibit in the Black History museum were also a treat.A visit to the on-site pottery studio was great and made me wish I lived closer to take classes.

While I was intriqued by the Gehry design for this building while driving by on Route 90 in Biloxi, I really didn't feel that the musuem itself was nearly as worthy as other reviewers seem to suggest. There just really isn't that much to see. There were four people in our party and we all felt the same way. There are some interesting Ohr pots, but really not that many. He was a man ahead of his time, to be sure. The African American exhibit was mildly interesting, as was the Reed house. I think that we felt we would be missing something if we left Biloxi without visiting this museum. You won't be, but go and find out for yourself just in case this is the perfect musuem for you.

The pods were very interesting from the outside. The museum had lots of pottery and work from other artists.

Being a native from the coast, we visit with our children and bring friends to enjoy the culture, beauty & history of our home several times a year. Honestly, this museum is an eye sore when we drive by and family and friends agree. Nothing about it draws them to visit.

My wife and I visited this museum that was designed by the noted Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. The various buildings reflect Gehry's frequent use of metal siding. The featured artist is George Ohr, considered the Mad Potter, who created many wonderful art pottery pieces that were not favorably received initially but have become true collector's items during the past 50 years. A spot very worth visiting when in the Biloxi area.

I had heard or had read about this museum but I had no Idea how significant it was until I drove by. Must see while in Biloxi

Nice local museum, very well done and doesn't cost a lot. Pottery exhibits from the Early pottery of George Ohr, a local pottery who didn't conform. A fully equipped studio where you can take classes. Right on Hwy 90 in Biloxi. Nice gift shop of local art.

As a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I am proud to have the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum here. It shows the very nature of George Ohr in its strange and wild architectural design by Frank Gehry. Once inside the museum, the famous pots of George Ohr present the very genius behind "The Mad Potter", and the history comes alive. The museum also offers art and pottery classes. It's a place like this that brings out the artist in all. If you take a trip to Mississippi's Gulf Coast, I highly recommend visiting the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art!

Traveling up and down the highway the Museum didn't hold a great appeal but that changed when we went to an Antique toy exhibit this last week. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the pottery, art and the history. We had a great time and will try and go every few months since they change their exhibits every 3 months. Don't let the exterior fool you go see the surprise inside.

If you are a pottery lover this is a nice place for a visit. There is a bit of history about Ohr-O' Keefe and his friend Pleasant. They are expanding per attendants for other artists to show their exhibits. I enjoyed looking at the architecture of the buildings. The attendants were friendly. On certain days the entrance fee is less. They also have pottery classes.

There are several out buildings where art is displayed so you must see all to get full benefit of museum.

Very artsy buildings, unique in design. Local artists are featured and they are abundant with talent. Be sure not to miss this one.
