Revoluntionary War Historic. Played a role in history. It is a cottage in size. Informative and dedicated tour guide. Gives an unchanged perspective of colonial times with its location on the major highway of the 1700s, The Boston Post Road, which was the land connection between NYC and Boston and all the towns along its route. Today US Route 1 is built on much of the old Post Road and runs directly in front of Putnam Cottage. In honor of General Putnam, the multi-named Post Road and Route 1 is named in Greenwich, "Putnam". The Cottage is located on East Putnam in central Greenwich.

You can tour Putnam Cottage/Knapp Tavern the second Sunday of June, July and August from 1-4pm or call for organzised tour any time of the year @ 203-869-9697. Please give a few days notice to plan for a group or class trip in advance. Plan on your tour to last 45 minutes to 1 hour.
