Big pool with a diving well, deep end, swim lanes and kids areas. The life guards are pleasant but I have never been to a pool where kids are running like crazy all over the place and narry a whistle is heard. The only "seating" area is at the snack bar which has an extensive menu and is actually pretty good. The rest of the time, you lay on a towel on the grass, dodging the kids as they race by.

This tiny little spot produces both the standard hot dogs, pizza and grilled cheeses, but also has some interesting salads and wraps. The help is wonderful and somehow manages gets lunches or snacks to hungry little diners in a hurry. The food is fresh, the outdoor dining at tables makes it almost like a picnic. Prices are really fair. There are always young baseball players coming from the playing fields and hurrying to the counters for their food. Their tales of the last game always make for interesting listening. Dog Friendly!!!

As a resident we used to buy our pool pass every year for the first few years the pool was open. After a couple of seasons we started to get very tired of the aggressive nasty attitude of the pool manager. We grew tired of how abusive be was toward the members and even more tired of how abusive he was toward the life guards. Who wants to be in that environment? The final reason we stopped going was how uninterested he was about the issue with bees. To beautify the only area you are permitted to eat in, they planted flowers. The bees are naturally attracted to them but they are also attracted to the food. I am not aware of them hosing the "dining area". I have been there on consecutive days and seen the same ketchup piles, melted ice cream etc on the ground. Nothing has ever been done about it and if you dare criticize the manager you get his abusive tone. There is NO reason to deal with that in a town like this. Waveny park however, is delightful and I highly recommend a visit.

A go to location for a wonderful walk in the woods in the middle of New Canaan. You will return many times to enjoy this jewel of a park.

Best dog park in area - friendly people and dogs - Large fenced in area with lots of grass and trees. The people pick up really well at this park compared to some of the other parks I have been to. Also has nice trails that you can walk with your dog. Historic mansion and grounds are a great place to just relx

After wrapping up the summer season of concerts each Wednesday, Waveny does not disappoint - wonderful walking trails and the beautiful foliage dazzles us with amazing red, yellow and burnt siena - folks walking dogs and a dog park near the paddle tennis courts abound - on Sundays model airplanes and helicopters dot the sky above the field - and the wonderful Carriage House on the property has consistent art exhibits for the community.

I live in Greenwich, CT just 2 years, coming over from London. I have fallen in love with New Canaan, and while Greenwich is more well known, this town is a gem- I want to move here! Waveny Park is a nice mixture of Hampstead Heath and Richmond Park combined. However, even better. There is a dog park where owners can let their dogs loose, in a fenced in lovely area. Keeps the dog lovers happy, and others as well as you don't need to watch where you step in the vast numerous trails for bikers and walkers. Beautiful trees abound. People are so civilised and respectful of this park. I loved the 1969 old style ice cream truck roaming around. It is beautiful, dignified, but unpretentious. Greenwich can't compete with that!!

The Lapham Family was so generous to donate this lovely property to the Town of New Canaan. It is a great place to catch a concert and fireworks in the summer, and walk the trails during the entire year. The various buildings on the property house excellent centers for Art, Ceramics and classes for the community, especially the Senior set. And the playing fields are just beautiful!

One of the most impressive place of my visit this time in the State. The space here are big, grass are beautiful, and air are fresh. Kids will have lot of fun here (also your pets, if you do have any) strongly suggest to visit.

We're visitors to the area and have walked around the park several times - for exercise and fresh air. Firstly retiree are ample free parking spaces - never has there been a problem finding one. Secondly there is usually a number of people flying their latest airborne toys - planes and helicopters and the like and it's quite amusing. There is also a dog exercise area where you can watch the dogs having fun and socialising. The only negative is there are no rest rooms so you must time your visits carefully.

This castle is the definitive venue for the classic New England wedding. They can easily host 200+ at the reception and you can have the wedding outdoors on the back porch overlooking the acres that the Laphams used to own.

A walker's delight includes a two mile trail, ideal for a picnic with vast expanses of green lawn. The mansion is open to weddings and the like. Great fun for a family who wants to be out on a sunny day.

Have jogged through the park for years. The trails are a delight through protected woods and open fields with wide vistas. They can get muddy in wet weather.
