I was very impressed by the quality of the exhibits and the excellent maintenance of the museum. It also has modern meeting facilities. Well worth a visit.

Very interesting exhibits, beautiful house and the tour guide and staff very friendly. Don't forget to ask for a discount as seniors, students and AAA get in for $4.

5 Stars for the West Hartford Hauntings tour of the North Cemetery during the month of October. Lantern-led tour with costumed interpreters/actors telling you about real Hartford residents buried in the cemetery. A lot of fun for all ages, and also very informative. The house is a 4-5 star attraction for children, with many interesting objects, and many you can touch to learn about colonial life. Perhaps less interesting for adults (personally I would have liked to learn a lot more about Noah and a lot less about colonial life , but perhaps that's just because I've toured so many era houses).For members of NARM (North America Reciprocal Museum) institutions with reciprocal rights, this museum is member.They have many good and interesting special events throughout the year.

I took my two daughters on the Hauntings tour last year. We enjoyed it so much that we are definitely looking forward to going on the tour again this year. The actors – both children and adults - did a great job portraying characters in West Hartford history. The setting in the North Cemetery of West Hartford was certainly spooky. My daughters were so enthusiastic about “Hauntings” that one of them is even interested in trying out for one of acting roles. I would certainly recommend this Fall event for children over 10 as well as adults.

My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find an excellent historic house tour in West Hartford for the birthplace of Noah Webster. The tour includes a short video describing Mr Webster's life and his significance as a lexicographer and educator as well as his influence on our political institutions. Noah Webster is under appreciated for his contributions but West Hartford has included his birthplace as part of a very nice community center.

I usually find historical houses to be risky and not likely to hold my interest. This one was different. Although there was information about Webster for sure, I found the details about life during his time to be quite informative. The fellow who took us around showed us various objects and passed these around. If you are nearby, its worth a visit. You will learn a few things about our English language (US version) and some interesting history too.

The video was about 30 minutes of introduction about Noah Webster my son was getting bored and my wife went to sleep for 2 minutes. Then we went on our tour with someone from Chicago and somewhere else. The tour was interesting they had a sewing room and his room. It is interactive and we enjoyed this. The gardens were also good. The gift shop was great my son got a pencil and you guessed it a dictionary. X rating 9.7

Please note, that I have never taken the tour of the Noah Webster House, however, what I participated in on Saturday, October 20th, was the "West Hartford Hauntings" at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $13. Reservations required.To begin with, it was rather cumbersome to find "North Cemetery" for there is no exact address listed on the Noah Webster website. After about 10 or so minutes of running around in circles, we were able to find the cemetery. As for the night, It was a brisk, dark night. Perfect for a lantern tour. The young boy who served as our tour guide did a great job! Kudos to him. But, what I did not enjoy at all was to be grouped with people who were constantly making noise, being obnoxiously inquisitive and commentative, and/or sarcastic. We had the "fortune" to be put in a group where 2 handicap groups were participating. This, of course, did not matter initially, but would soon present problems. One was a school for deaf/mute children and the second group appeared to be a school for either mentally challenged and/or mentally ill pre-pubescent/teenage girls. From time to time, the young boy from the deaf/mute school would laugh hysterically and clap his hands, but it was not 'that' intrusive. On the other hand, the girls school had one blond girl in particular that commented and questioned everything said by the lantern guide, made sarcastic commentary, and really took away from the joy of being able to enjoy a 1 hour tour of North Cemetery. And, the people behind us, a trio of early to mid 20 year olds, commented mockingly and annoyingly at the teen's statements, and also had their own loud, chuckling conversations. For this event to be successful, it must have more guiding hands that can control a crowd; albeit a small one. I would not partake in this tour again.

This great historic ome has lots to offer including dinners on selected winter weeke ds with live music. The home is beautifully restored to it's original condition

This was a midpoint stop in our drive to our next hotel and let me say, well worth the time. We called ahead because we were going to be a little late and they stayed open 20 min late just for us! The docents were very friendly and knowledgeable! It is very small (about a 30min tour) but was perfect for what we wanted.

The Noah Webster House is located in West Hartford less than a minute from the off-ramp of the highway. This is the historic birthplace of Noah Webster for whom the Webster's New World Dictionary is named. He was born in this house in the year 1758, and was a sixth-generation Yankee from a prominent New England family. He attended Yale at the age of 16. Webster is most notably known for publishing "An American Dictionary" in 1828 with 70,000 words. He first published a brief, unfinished version of his dictionary in 1806. Before Webster's dictionary, there were no codified spellings of English words, and many words were corrupted by British aristocracy.The Noah Webster House offers visitors 45 minute tours of the early Noah Webster homestead. Before the tour, make sure to take a step inside the our 19th-century schoolhouse theater, which is located in the foyer. Vistors can watch a short 12 minute film about Noah Webster here from a seat in a 19th-century style school desk. There are also interactive hands-on exhibits for both kids and adults at the museum.Any Anglophile interested in the English language or early American history, will really find 60-90 minute tour of this museum very interesting.

Noah Webster House has added a wonderful building to accommodate larger groups. The original home has been preserved for a marvelous historical educational experience!

The Noah Webster House is one of the few historical attractions in West Hartford. Unfortunately, there isn't much there from a tourist point of view. They have a couple of people in period costume carding wool and baking bread. Their gift shop has the usual 18th and 19th century wooden toys and fake documents. It is a repository for certain local historical documents, so if you are a researcher there is more there for you. If you are a casual tourist, I would recommend skipping this one.
