Bushnell Park's Winterfest is a great way for the community to enjoy free ice skating in the winter. They provide skates to those that need them, and there was also a chance to visit with Santa Claus if you went at the right time. This is a great free activity to do with family and friends. Winterfest runs from (I believe) the end of November to the beginning of February. Bushnell Park does also have events at other times of the year, including quite a few in the warmer months.

Was lit for the holidays. Nice walking trail that takes you up and over by the State Government buildings.

A nice pretty urban park. Pretty carousel, nice ice rink, kids playing on the green. I would be afraid after dark.

We like the openness of the park. You can ride the carousel, pick up a bite to eat from several food vendors, take a seat and enjoy the sound of the city...close to the capital and other businesses, it is safe just use common sense. The oddest thing we saw was a man with his son trapping pigeons...oh well, it is the city after all.

This is a lovely park that would make for a nice walk. During the summer months a couple of food trucks line the street and there will be some summer concerts. During the month of December a skating rink opens for everyone to enjoy. It's a lovely park with a beautiful carousel for children to enjoy. Grab a blanket and bring a picnic basket, it's the perfect park to do so.

New York City has Central Park, Chicago has Lincoln and San Diego has Balboa; every city needs a huge space of green where city folk can unwind and relax in the grass: in Hartford, there is Bushnell Park. While not as large or overwhelming as those mentioned above, Bushnell offers some excellent sites, such as the Sailor and Soldier Memorial Arch, embossed with the heroes of the Civil War (see photos); the quaint Pump House (see photos) and an array of fountains and walking paths. Overlooking all .... the majestic State Capitol building.

Situate right next to the state capitol so it's a nice place to relax right in the middle of town. There's a few feature in the park to visit but it is a city park. Not a place to plan a specific visit.

During a business trip met a friend and took a stroll downtown. What a wonderful "discovery" finding this park. It's lovely landscape with its 100 year old renovated carousel is a slice out of another time. No wonder Mark Twain loved this town. This park feels like the soul of a town who is about to see better days ahead. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon.

It has a spacious lawns with squirrels all around. Good view of a Connecticut State Capitol. The Carousel is a must see.

Great place to take a walk when you are in Hartford seeing the sights. Carousel, fountains, and nice shaded areas. Great view of the capitol.

The carousel in Bushnell Park is fun and only costs one dollar. The horses are nicely decorated and the ride is fairly long. A must for kids!

What a beautiful carousel in the park. It is beautiful and exactly 100 years old today July 26th 2014. Lucky me happened to be in town. Free rides and lots of people. And dressed docents. A real town event. A festive carnival like event and it was wonderful. Be sure to take a spin on the carousel when you are in Bushnell park

Pretty park and timely respite from the heat of the city on a summer day. Enjoyed the carousel which was celebrating it's 100th birthday with a Wurlitzer still playing while it spins. A ride costs $1. Worth it even if you don't want to ride. Beautiful view of the capital building.

Unfortunately there was construction just now, so it was a little difficult to access. The park is beautiful and the carousel a treat. I was surprised that the Native American garden was full of weeds.
