Sorry you were not happy with your farm visit! That saddens us as we try as hard as possible to make it special for all our visitors. No farm in America will ever be as large as ones in Provence because of difficulties posed by our climate and soils and we did have a difficult winter and like most other lavender farms across America, we lost a lot of lavender. We tried to be as transparent as possible about what visitors could expect on our website. Because we are just a small family farm and our livelihood is dependent on every year…if we had been closed last season we wouldn’t have been able to continue or to have the money to enlarge our field this year. Our farm is sixteen acres of open fields and was over an acre of lavender....but as of this fall we will be expanding the field three times its size! The new area has been plowed and disced and soon a farmer friend will bring his machine that mounds up the dirt into rows for better drainage. We will be planting a new variety called “Phenomenal” which is more tolerant of our climate and soils than other types of lavender. If you would like to play a part in our field renewal, put on your work clothes and come on out between October 7th and 21st 2014 and we will gladly put you to work learning how to plant and care for lavender. (We can pay you with a season pass for 2015 and our undying gratitude!) Call ahead to schedule with Deb at 540-272-7839.

We went to the lavender farm today for the first time, not really knowing what to expect. Unfortunately the winter was not good to their plants and they lost quite a few. Plus last night was a big storm that brought a tree down on a house on the property. Despite that, everyone was delightful. We got a quick lesson on lavender, the children in our group were excited to hold the baby bunnies, there must have been a dozen of them. There is a large playhouse and a couple of rocking horses to play on too. A couple of dogs greeted us, but then promptly left us. The lavender lemonade is delicious, I wish I had some right now! The little shop has lots of lavender products, plus there are herb plants for sale. We were using a Living Social deal and part of that was a 50 stem bunch of lavender to bring home. It's worth a visit, just don't expect huge fields of lavender. Maybe next year, if the winter is kinder.

I drove out to Seven Oaks with a few friends from Maryland. Everyone was welcoming and very helpful. Many came out to eat a picnic, take pictures or participate in one of the craft workshops. I myself made my own lavender bundle and someone provided me with some ribbon to tie it off. It was not the biggest lavender farm I've ever seen but it was still beautiful and a great way to spend an afternoon.

I treated my mom to one of the livingsocial.com deals at Seven Oaks Lavender Farm. What a treat for a sleety mid-winters' birthday! We were welcomed into the super cute lavender farm shop, where the hostess, farm owner Deb, welcomed us with delicious lavender tea and lavender scented sweet treats. How ladylike! Then she put us to work, it is a farm after all. We made two bottles each of aromatherapeutic room spray with lavender oils, lavender sachets and 10" lavender wreaths! It's been several weeks and I am still enjoying the aroma of the lavender wreath that hangs over my bed. This was a very generous package, and despite the fact that the farm's many lavender bushes(?) are asleep for the winter, I can tell that I will want to visit this summer. Very very cute!

While we were expecting something much larger in scale, we enjoyed our time here. A delightful gift shop, a variety of things for kids, and beautiful views and smells. It's easy to walk amidst the lavender bushes thanks to the ground cover. We went on a damp morning and stayed dry and clean. They have several different types of Lavender and a ton of Lavender products. A good place for outdoor family time. We cut a small bouquet of Lavender which made our car smell delightful for the rest of our vacation! The staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable!

Sorry you weren't happy with your experience. We do have around 500 plants...although in the very early part of the season not many are blooming. We charge an entrance fee which we feel is reasonable for children and adults (and if you keep your eyes peeled or sign up on our newsletter on our web-site we always run a Living Social/Groupon deal for half off entrance and a bit more thrown in.) We do charge per stem if people want to take some home...but some people don't want to pick lavender, they just bring a lunch and enjoy the countryside. An entrance fee allows us some income in that case. In season we serve lavender-mint iced tea, have our lavender shop open with over 50 products (no entrance fee to shop), have baby goats or bunnies to pet, a really nice children's playhouse and friendly staff to talk to you about the lavender. All in all we feel that for around $20 a family it is a nice outing in the country.

Went out to Seven Oaks Lavender farm with a friend. We had a great time, but I was expecting an entire FARM of lavender. It was about 40 bushes of different types of lavender, but not as many as I expected. The ladies are super nice, the rates for cutting are exceptionally reasonable, the gift shop is amazing, and it is something fun to do with small children.
