new river valley mall

It may be a small mall, but it has lots of good shops. Also, it has a new playground for kids that is awesome. It's always busy, and is one of the few free indoor places to go in the area.

I grew up near Christiansburg, and remember going to the mall and going to the arcade, or swinging by the toy store, or going to all the awesome shops and centers; meeting people in my teens at the awesome food court and going to the movies. Now that the years have gone by, the mall has fallen into disarray. Many of the good shops have closed, along with Sears. The arcade is gone and replaced with nothing. The food court went from being the hub of the mall to only four restaurants: Dairy Queen, Subway, a generic pizza place, and a wok. They closed down the theater to build it off-site and opened a community college in its place. They remodeled the mall, which looks nice and quaint, but because of the remodeling, they raised the rent of their stores to astronomical levels, which is why 60% of the mall, including Sears, shut down. I would like to say this mall is amazing and fun, but I would be lying. Drive to Roanoke and go to the mall there, because the NRV Mall won't be able to help you find anything you're truly looking for, unless you like shuffling around like a zombie not knowing what to do.
