The Center is widely known for its residential craft school, its wonderful and varied musical offerings, its promotion of regional artists and more. All that in a Blue Ridge Mountain setting in Virginia. I've personally attended classes and both musical and arts events there over the years and most recently visited during "Winterfest", its annual celebration of arts, crafts, music, food, and fun.Winter brings its challenges to the mountains of Virginia, so always check ahead for their winter hours or occasional weather related closures.

If you are an artist, or want to explore your creative tendencies, the classes at the JAX are a must! The choices of classes are wide ranging, you can count on experienced & professional instructors, the facilities are excellent, and the JAX staff is incredibly helpful & accommodating. I suggest a weekend class, bring a friend, and enjoy the entire Floyd experience!

If you're traveling in southwestern Virginia, do yourself a favor and visit the little town of Floyd. It's a small town with lots of charm, good will, and has a keen appreciation of the arts...arts of all kinds. To see some of the best, make sure to stop in at The Jacksonville Center For The Arts. Located just a minute south of the main stretch of town in a renovated dairy barn, the Jax can be counted on to have some quality pieces on display in its galleries. You won't be disappointed...and you may just see a class in progress...black-smithing, watercolor, jewelry making, basket weaving to name just a few. Stop in to look around, shop, and/or enroll in a class. You won't regret it.

We were greeted by a friendly staff member the moment we walked in the door. She also gave us a quick overview of the layout so we could choose our route accordingly. It's not a large center, but it is tended to well and our visit was enjoyable.

Music and Art are a bid part of Floyd and this becomes obvious the moment you drive into town. We came to Floyd to attend the Winterfest Art and Craft fair and were blown away by the quality and quantity of the art represented. There was only one thing better that the art at this event and that was the people.
