Linda and Rick, We had such a wonderful time! Thank you so much for your recommendations and most of all your hospitality. Vineyard Views was perfect for us. We had a great weekend with great food and lots of wine. We loved it. Trish and Jon Hill

My husband and I had visited the winery in the summer and heard about the accommodations that were available to rent nightly, so we decided to come back with another couple for a weekend visit and stay at the Manor House, a 3-bedroom antebellum home located right in the middle of the vineyards. Included in the cost of lodging was a bottle of wine and a wine tasting for everyone - and this vineyard knows their wine - each of us ended up buying 12 bottles! The Manor House is a fabulous place to relax and enjoy the fabulous views...even in the late Fall. The staff of the winery - a make it or break it in my opinion - is absolutely phenomenal and Susan, who we've done two tastings with, is someone who truly loves what she does and represents the vineyard well. We only live a few hours away, but love visiting the Northern Neck because it feels like a million miles away....I think the Manor House has become our new "go to" when in the area because we have to stock up on the great GRV wine!

We enjoyed our tasting at General's Ridge. It was a pleasant day and the windows allowed for a nice view. It was a Sunday and not all that busy, and the host explained the wines to us and told us about the winery which was very enjoyable. No rush no pressure and we found 2 nice wines.

The large selection of wines were very good and the salmon platter and smoked oysters were fantastic!!! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Came out with several bottles of very reasonably priced wines.

Inexpensive wines and tastings but very good for the money. Nice facilities and good food. Not a bad wine in our tastings. Very knowledgeable staff.

Nice tasting room with a bit of food and a wine slushie you can order. My son liked that they had WiFi! You got the keep the glass with the price of the tasting. Bought a few bottles, definitely worth the stop!

The winery was great. We had met the General and his wife Linda while having dinner at the Inn at Montross. He told us the history of the winery, and the next day, we met out there to taste his very enjoyable wines.

GR was one of our stops for a girls' weekend wine tasting trip. We weren't really impressed with the tasting room---the bar could use more light to allow for reading the wine info. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Wine tasting is one of the best in Northern Neck, We usually get here about 3-4 times a year. Wine is very good, have music frequently. Always a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine

We had a great time at General's Ridge. The owner is a retired Marine Corps General who clearly loves making wine. Staff is great and makes the wine tasting quite fun. The General's Red wine (a merlot and chamborin blend) was my favorite wine.

We had decided to do a little tour of winery's in the Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck Area. General's Ridge is a pretty, small winery. The wines were okay -- not fantastic. The person who did the tasting was delightful and we had a good time talking.

My fiance and I visited the vineyard while staying at The Inn at Montross. The wine was reasonably priced and great to taste. We purchased a couple of bottles to enjoy that weekend. We also lucked out and were able to chat with the owners while staying at the Inn. Very interesting individuals and great to meet the owners behind the operation!A great place to stop when visiting the Northern Neck and doing some vineyard hopping.

The wines here were all pretty good, and the tasting room was quite spacious. The GRV white and red were very inexpensive table wines. We had a couple of the food choices as well which were delicious. They also have a couple of options available to rent rooms on the property. Could make for a nice weekend escape with friends.

This review is for the Vineyard Views cottage, as you can stay overnight on property. It is the house next to the buildings where you do the tastings. The house seems to have been fairly recently built or renovated, with a beautiful full kitchen and plenty of living and dining space to accomodate a group of friends or a family. There is one formal bedroom, two full bathrooms, and a den in that can be closed off as a bedroom and has an air mattress sleeper sofa with access to the bathroom. There is a deck off the den with beautiful views which is lovely to sit out and have coffee in the morning or wine in the evenings. The house delivers what it promises, there are vineyard views all around it and woods behind the home. It is very quiet, and after the employees leave for the evening there is no one on propery but you. This is a lovely place to stay, and was not very far from a few restaurants, and other wineries in the area. There did not seem to be internet access provided, and the tv was quite old and did not have cable, only VHS tapes (yes, VHS tapes). But if you are not there to watch tv, and don't mind the seclusion, this is a lovely place in the heart of the vineyard to get away from it all.

My husband and I enjoyed all the wines offered & bought a few to take home! Definitely worth the visit. Recommend.
