back home on the farm

We visited Back Home on the Farm on a beautiful fall Saturday. The setting and view are terrific, and there are lots of cool activities for the kids that take 5-10 minutes each so you're never bored (the right-turn only maze, slingshots, mountain slide and pig races were the best). Longer activities were also well done, like the corn maze and cow train. In general the place is well organized, too, from the parking staff that greets you at the entrance to the efficient hayrides out to the pumpkin patch. But I have to deduct a star for the food truck, which was far too small (and the only real food option in the facility) to feed the hundreds of people in attendance. We waited in line 35 minutes to order and then the food took another 30 minutes after that, which put a damper on everyone's mood. They began running out of food items altogether at 3 pm, with three more hours to go in the day. Not sure how people ate after that, and the only other food option is to eat brownies and other sweets from the country store. So Back Home on the Farm gets 4 stars from me. I strongly recommend giving it a visit, but I also strongly recommend packing some sandwiches in case they haven't fixed this problem.

My family of 5, consisting of a 9, 3, & 1 year old had an amazing first visit!!! $8 for a ticket gets you in the door & access to all activities on the grounds. Corn maze, lavender maze, color hose maze, pig races, water duck races, bowling, farm petting zoo (horse, donkey, rabbits, goats- Houdini was our favorite!!), rides on the burlap slide (5 stars just for this! No lie we probably rode it close to 30 times!!!), the carousel, the moo train, sling shots, hanging pot drums, play grounds & play tunnels, & of course the tractor ride to the pumpkin patch. The extra things we paid for oop... snacks, drinks, sweets... all cheap!!! We paid under $9 for 4 drinks, fudge, whoopie pies, & brownies!!! Box of Pumpkins- we chose to purchase pumpkins from the .50 cents per lb. field... 1 lg. 3 medium, & 7 small ended up being under $20. Way better than the grocery store & my kids got to pick their own straight from the field!!! & I bought beautiful mums for $2 bucks a piece! Lots to choose from! The staff was AMAZING & HILARIOUS!!! The only thing I would like to see different is if they decided to offer season's passes! This place is an 11 out of 10!!!

Had read about their fall activities and so we went by to check out the corn maze. Trip started with a 60 foot tube slide which was awesome, followed by a huge cornmaze with clues, twists and turns. They have a ton of cool family games like corn hole, a string maze, racing game and of course farm animals and a carousel. Staff was super friendly and the place was beautiful this time of year.When we left they were starting a pig race...pretty cool.
