There's so much to do here. There's a waterpark, boat launch, playgrounds, sports parks, picnic areas, trails, which span for a long time. It's connected to horsepen run and another park which I'm not sure the name of so you can literally get lost (be careful). I live nearby and come here almost every weekend.

There is lots of space here with picnic tables all along the river. We like to walk out dog down the path along the river. there is a lot of open space for family gatherings as well. I believe they also have cabins but I have never stayed in them since I only like about 10 minutes away. they did seem reasonably priced and would be a great atmosphere for a stay by the river.

Great spot to get outside. Plenty of spaces to run around, jog, soccer, etc. Easy river access if you have a boat. Cottages to rent if you want a small get-a-way. Have been coming here for years. Yes, I will return.

We stayed in Cottage 3 (handicapped access & facilities) for 4 days/nights.It was great! At the same time, the Park was offering it's "Haunted Forest" program. We just wanted a quiet and consolating weekend. We had a Great time! Our stay was quiet (inside). Eventhough we cnould hear carnage, mayhem, freakish, ghoulish and other such stuff (because of the Park's Haunted Forest attraction/activity outside, none of that was heard in the cottages. Our cottage was spacious, warm and inviting. Reasonable cable TV kept us up to date with local activities and programs. Also, the view from our cabin at sunrise and sunset was beyond exemplary. Beautiful, awesome, amazing, etc. are too weak to explain. The cabin was fully furnished and had accomodations for all. Within 10 minutes are household and grocery outlets, so we were able to make sure that we had anything that we needed. This is a deal!We will surely look to stay here again because of the wonderful and accomodating, friendly and comfortable accomodations.Well done, NVRPA!You nailed this as a great and wonderful deal!

Bungalow Rentals? 18 Hole Golf? Mini Golf? Water Park? Picnic Pavilion Rentals? Kayak Rentals? Hiking Trails? Volleyball? Are you interested in any of this?? If so, check out Algonkian Regional Park. I planned my Corporate Finance Picnic here and the online reservation process and staff who assisted me for the group mini golf were very accommodating. We rented their largest pavilion and it was clean and held the team very well. The nearby restroom facilities were very clean. There were a lot of shade trees in the pavilion area, making for a very pleasant day. I plan to take my grandson back to the water park when it opens next season. Looks like a great place. There is no fee to enter the park, but there is to reserve pavilions, golf, boat, or rent a cottage.

recent surgery prevented my playing golf but the course looked in great shape and it is a good course for all levels of players, as a teen i cut my golf teeth here... nice walking trail along the river heading west... once you get past the cabins and swimming pool (we used to just take a dip in the river but i guess today's youth will never have the experience- sad for them)

I love coming to Algonkian Park. There is so much to see and do. You can take your boat or kayaks out, hike the trails, and fish. There is plenty of room to toss a ball back and forth or play frisbee. There is plenty of spaces for a BBQ. There is a water park too! Very family and dog friendly!

Algonkian is a great park right on the Potomac River. You can boat, fish, hike, or just relax. Highly recommended.

I love coming here with my dogs. There is ample space to fish along the Potomac River as well as places to grill.

We have come here from Long Island, NY for 4 of the past 5 summers for a week of fun and relaxation! Our kids (3 and almost 7) love it here and they talk about Volcano Island long after we leave. The staff is laid back and attentive and it's a great place to set up base if you want to explore DC or the nearby Dulles air museum. We would highly recommend these cottages for a low key weekend. It's great for fishing, golf, and easy trail walking, too.

The Pool is clean, modern, inexpensive and like a mini-resort. The lake has great fishing, and don't worry; you can rent what you need. Trails are free and beautiful; and during holidays, they'll deck the place out for you.

Visited the park to play golf. Its a good little course, very easy to play. Had a great time walking and talking the afternoon away. Its not the best course in the area but very playable and affordable. We worth the time

This is a lovely regional park. Lots of outdoor space and great, leisurely walking trails. Reservation fees for shelters/cooking areas are reasonable and parking is adequate or sufficient most days. I haven't explored the water park yet, but it looks clean and fun. It's usually busy, but not overly so during the week. The walking trails are low-key and not strenous. The only real drawback, is that the river itself does have some pollution issues - so there is junk piled up in some areas - not the park's fault. Also, some people will sit in the usually quieter areas and then blast music. Personally, i think this is kind of rude. Some people will smoke and that's rude, too. And then there is the requisite dog-deposits. You have to watch out for those. Like all parks, it has its plusses and minuses - but overall it's a lovely park, year round.

A weekday walking rate is very reasonable -- $21 for 18 before twilight, 13.50 for 9, and 10.50 for 9 after twilight. The course is in as good a shape as I have ever seen it -- greens are smooth, and firm, and almost all the traps have been renovated with new sand and improved drainage.
