Jones Memorial is located on the second floor of the Lynchburg Library building - Memorial Avenue side. It is not part of the library but has an extensive collection of genealogical materials for people researching their family's Virginia roots. I visited to find out more about my family, but since they didn't live in the state there was no helpful information for me. The people I spoke with were extremely friendly and helpful.

Whether looking up your family tree or finding more out about organizations' histories, it is a great place. Employees are very helpful. They also have several special programs annually for the public on a given weekday at 5 p..m.

I love the kids programs they have but I have to shuffle my kids in and out quickly to avoid all the homeless people that hover around always asking for money or rides. Scary.

If you are interested in Virginia Genealogy, Jones Memorial is the tops. The staff is excellent and so is the space. I recommend this library as a first stop to Richmond's Virginia State Library because the parking is more convenient.

Jones Memorial Library is conveniently located above the main branch of the Lynchburg Public Library. Jones is the place to go for any type of family genealogical research, especially as regards ancestors in the central Virginia area. They have the largest collection of records and books about Lynchburg and central Virginia of any institution. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. I recommend Jones Memorial Library higfhly.
