virginia hang gliding

My boyfriend and I recently went hang gliding at the last minute when we were passing through Virginia. I called Bill and he was kind enough to accommodate me within an extremely reasonable amount of time and even offered me an almost 50% discount. True Story. The experience was very nice, enjoyable, and relaxing. I would hang glide again for sure, but definitely with this specific crew in Melfa, Virginia. Thanks again for the great experience for me and my boyfriend to be able to share with one another.

I recently went tandem hang gliding with Virginia Hang Gliding and it was a great experience. I was very nervous right before my flight but Bill put me at ease and made me feel very comfortable and safe. I went up 3500ft and it was awesome. Total time from take off to landing was about 13 minutes which was shocking because I felt like I was up for 30mins. The time you are up can vary though depending on the conditions. Amazing views, you can see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay. Once we were released from the plane, my tandem pilot taught me how to control the hang glider and I was allowed to fly it for a few minutes. We even did a "roller coaster" move where he nose-dived the hang glider down and then rolled us upside down! It was very cool. Highly highly recommend trying it out!!!!!

I've been hang gliding a few times, these guys rock! Very professional and simply "good guys." They take safety seriously. They know their stuff. And they make sure every ride is enjoyable. Their love for hang gliding is contagious - just talking about it with them makes me smile.Good pricing. Nice facility -- bathrooms, comfrotable waiting area, etc. Donnie (my tandem instructor) pointed out many local attractions. I'm not into acrobatics (he gives you the choice) and appreciated being able to try my hands at flying.This was a birthday present from my boyfriend and I would definitely go back again! The place is easy to find and it's nice to make a day of being on the Eastern Shore. We spend a few hours kayaking before hang gliding and also walked around Chincoteague a little bit (about an hour away).

My boyfriend's birthday was the 8th of August and I always have such a hard time getting a present for him. I began researching hang gliding and paragliding around the DC area which is where we are located and it was very discouraging. Three different companies I contacted were so unprofessional and one even charged me for a paragliding session, but they never returned my call to confirm my appointment nor picked up any of my calls. I was so frustrated but last week I decided to give one last search and I came across a miracle. Every review I read on here spoke about how amazing their experience was and it was true. I called and spoke to Bill and speaking to him was like talking to someone I had known for ten years. He was so kind and seemed so enthusiastic which got me very excited. He knew we were coming from DC which is four hours away so he made sure I checked in with him the day before and the day of to make sure weather was still flying appropriate. It was a very long day of driving but it was so worth it! I can't express how incredibly happy I was with the whole experience. Don,who was the instructor that flew with my boyfriend was just so confident about his skill level and made me feel so much more comfortable about my loved one going 3500 ft in the air. I can honestly say this was a very memorable time and I can't wait to comeback and bring some of our friends along with us!

What a great time! My wife went hang gliding with Bill and Don and had a wonderful time. They are very friendly and made us feel right at home. The hang gliding was great and the experience with them was very laid back and stress free. We would recommend them to anyone who has any interest in hang gliding; they make you feel very safe so you can just enjoy the glide. WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN! Thank you guys

This was my first time ever going hang gliding and I'm glad that I went here because they made my first hang gliding experience so much fun! Bill and Don were super nice and they're really good at what they do. Don was the pilot of the hang glider and Bill was the pilot of the plane towing the hang glider. From take-off to landing i had a blast especially with those roller coasters that Don did. I will definitely go hang gliding again because of these guys and I recommend this place to anyone who is around the area or anyone who is interested in trying hang gliding. Make sure you ask Don or whoever is piloting the hang glider to do some roller coasters! It's definitely an experience of a lifetime.

Bill and Don were SO friendly and clearly knowledgeable, I felt right at home. They are super nice, and Don is good about "distracting" (his word) you if you get a little nervous, as I was while we were hovering and wind gusts were hitting us. The view was beautiful (and I really have no interest in beaches!) Now that I know what to expect, I want to go again and see if even that little bit of fear disappears.

I took my boyfriend hang gliding for his birthday this past weekend and he couldn't have been happier! They are extremely friendly, professional and make you feel at ease - both Bill (the tow pilot) and Don (the tandem pilot) have tons of experience, and all you have to do is have a good time. They are so honest, that they gave me a Groupon deal that I didn't even know about beforehand. I didn't go hang gliding myself, but my boyfriend could see both the ocean, and the bay - and obviously having a great view is part of what makes the experience so spectacular. In fact, my boyfriend was so enamored and uplifted after the flight that we drove to Assateague island on our way back to DC to see the wild horses, and he proposed to me on the beach. You may not get engaged after hang gliding, but magical things can happen!

An amazing experience. The ride was thrilling. My 20 year old son Alex enjoyed it too. My daughter, who did not want to go up, changed her mind and loved it. I trust Bill. He is very professional. Donny the pilot of the hang glider is a pro too. Both have great personalities. Views were spectacular. Well worth the drive and overcoming the slight case of nerves you may have in considering it.

Well worth the trip from Virginia Beach. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They made the experience very enjoyable. The views were spectacular. Able to see the Atlantic and Chesapeake at the same time. The countryside is beautiful. With a few tips I was able to fly/steer the glider for a few minutes. One of the best thrills I've had.

If you are on the Eastern shore or anywhere on Chincoteague Island, take the 20 minute drive south from Chincoteague and do this! It is a must for anyone looking to kick their vacation up a notch! The staff here is unbelievably accommodating, totally professional, and have a talent for settling anyone's nerves down so that you can relax and enjoy the freedom of gliding! My wife has refused to hike the Adirondaks because she is afraid of hights, after a few minutes with the staff here she was 3,200ft up and loving it! Coyote (our pilot) will custom fit your ride to your level of adventure. My recommendation; your already up there so do the rollercoster! They also offer a video of your entire experience for a very reasonable price (a must as you can capture tons of great still shots from it!). Can't say it enough, you MUST MUST MUST try this and do it with Virginia Hang Gliding!
