Love this winery! This is my 4th visit here! It was very crowded, but we got a place at the tasting bar right away. My favorite was the red blend; I got a glass to eat with my lunch. Now speaking of lunch...get the pizza from the wood fire grill. We got the Margarita Pizza...awesome. This is a beautiful winery. Much prettier than Trump! Make time to go here even though it is a 30 minute drive from Charlottesville.

We went for lunch and wine tasting. The winery was gorgeous and the view was breathtaking. The food was wonderful. I wish we lived closer to go again.

The views are spectacular, and I know why this is a popular destination venue for any celebration. We enjoyed the cheese board, tapas, and the chicken liver pate offerings. Everything is beautifully presented. We did not do a wine tasting, but we ordered by the glass from the menu. I love their Viognier, and I cannot wait to return next Fall.

We have been coming here since they opened a few years ago. We immediately fell in love with the view and the food. For a vineyard the dining experience is surprisingly good. The view is wonderful and the place is cozy. The wine is iffy, but expected for such a new place that has very limited homegrown grapes. The wines a very inconsistent and fluctuate each year based on the stock they can get their hands on. However, their winemakers select is usually pretty solid. Despite the inconsistent wine, we keep coming back. Apparently many others do as well as it is getting quite crowded on the weekends. Also on weekemds, Pipin Hill is a very popular wedding spot. They close early sometimes for weddings so check the web-site before going (www.pipinhillfarm.com).

The view, the wine, it's all spectacular. We enjoyed their smaller, more specialized selections. The Red Pump was my favorite but their Chardonnay was great. I imagine it would be a lovely (but pricey) place to have a wedding.

Large porch to sit and sip. Excellent views of fields and mountains. The wines are pretty good. This hidden gem is starting to be discovered and can become quite crowded during summer weekends.

We relocated to this area a few months ago and have started checking out the Wineries-THIS is our favorite, by far!! First-the view. Mountains.....land.....trees...ahhhhSecond-the food! My husband had the sliders and stated he may never eat non-grass fed beef again! I had the red quinoa-slightly spicy with a tempura avocado and vegetables: DELISH!! We bought a bottle of wine, drank half and then sat outside to finish off the bottle. Nice, happy people all around. Advice: they do have outside dining but the wait can be long on a beautiful day, otherwise, prepare to relax and breathe.........

We got there right when it opened and did a tasting. The wines were acceptable but nothing special. You can taste 4 wines. We stayed for lunch and that is where this place excels. The food was wonderful. We had the tapas, gnocchi, and grass-fed beef sliders. It was all very good. We each ordered the petit verdot cupcakes for dessert but we could have split it. They serve you 3 medium-sized cupcakes. The place was very busy when we left so I do suggest getting there early and definitely....have lunch!

Gorgeous. Great food and beautiful scenery. Bring a blanket and sit on the lawn. Can be very busy so I suggest you go early in the day.

Pippin was our first stop on our tour. I recommend you hire a driver so you don't worry about driving and you can enjoy each stop. We arranged our driver through Wish Wish. When we asked what winery to visit, Pippin was the most recommended. We were told to go early as it is a popular stop. We did arrive early. I agree with the other review that it can be a restaurant first and winery second. There is lots of eating areas within the venue. The view of the vineyard offers a nice backdrop for special occasions. The cheese plate we had was delicious and comes with unlimited toasted baguettes. The tasting areas are located in an enclosed heated patio and inside a spacious eating area. We liked the Reserve Chardonnay and the Cab Franc during the tasting. What was missing was there was no personalty from those who described and poured the wine. We did enjoy the wine and looking at the view. The winery did get busy as we were leaving.

I'm surprised at TA's classification of this as an attraction. It's a restaurant/wine bar paired with a wedding venue. It's a vineyard, they grow grapes. But it's not a winery. As a wine bar I'd rate my visit 3 bubbles but could easily see this place earning 5 on a day that wasn't so crowed. I'm accustomed to enjoying a wine tasting in a relaxed atmosphere; that's not what this place was about. Our group went on a stunning Saturday afternoon in late fall; the place was insanely busy and not at all my scene. We were kept waiting at the entrance at the base of the driveway 15 minutes since the lot was filled to capacity. A car was allowed to drive up for each car that exited. Once in the door we had a 30 minute wait for a table for 6.The location is stunning. The wine was good. Service was pleasant; a bit slow but understandable considering the pace of turnover. As mentioned earlier this is clearly a restaurant/wine bar with wedding venue it should come as surprise they don't allow outside food/picnics. NOTICE - handicap parking spaces (2 only) are hidden behind the building beyond the loading dock. There is no signage directing visitors and the parking lot attendants were clueless. I will certainly try it again under different circumstances, midweek with a smaller group and will post another review at that time.

What an exquisite place. Beautiful inside and out. Casual Chic. Great live music. Food to die for… and then die for again when you get dessert :). Wine is great (but truth be told, I go to wineries for the experience of being out in the countryside, discovering new beautiful places to chill with friends, seeing foliage - wine is secondary and I am not much of a connasieuer!) At Pippin Hill, we could have sat on their heated patio, with twinkling lights and a view of the countryside through the clear enclosure, but we sat inside on cute french loveseats looking at the views into the hills, watching all the cool people, their dogs, and their kids playing on the front lawn like a Ralph Lauren commercial. Now, Pippin Hill was written up as both beautiful and having delicious good. Well, we are here to say that both are true. Our two food items:--Chicken Liver Pate with Cabernet Sauvignon Jelly, House Cured Pickles & Toast - delish!--Warm Honeycrisp Apple Crumble with Wildflower Honey Gelato with Cider Reduction" - So good!In the pictures, you will see that even in the serving of the food, they present it with cool and unusual dishes and plates. They also have a wood burning specially crafted pizza oven, and they make rather exotic pizzas each weekend. We were too full to eat that - but I eyeballed others and almost changed my mind but my stomach wouldn't let me!Outside they had magnificent wild flowery gardens all around which, even in November, had lots of color and blooms. This is a place you will want to linger -- and to come hungry too. Plan accordingly. We loved it!

Food was great, Wine pretty average. Venue was very pretty and staff very good. Having separate areas to congregate away from Dance floor was nice. Not enough seating in main area for all who attended so someone was always standing up (240 guests)

A beautiful autumn day found us at this breathtaking property. The pastoral mountain views were indescribable. Unfortunately, the menu looked promising, but was disappointing. My grilled ham & cheese was tasty, but not exceptional. My wife's trout was served in a flavorless sauce. The portion was small considering the hefty price. We thought dessert would compensate for our less than stellar entrees. Again, a disappointment. The three small cupcakes w/rosemary infusion looked appetizing on the menu. They were dry and nothing special. Sporadic service from various wait staff left us confused at times. We were seated indoors due to the large luncheon crowd on the patio. This may have affected our experience. On a positive note, we were seated near the pizza-making area where it seemed that something customized and positive was being produced. Perhaps our orders should have gone in that direction. If we return, we will try for an earlier lunch time in order to have patio seating. And that pizza could be a wonderful dining experience.

We stopped in to Pippin Hill early on a Friday afternoon and were so impressed with the beautiful location and incredible views. They were setting up for an outdoor wedding (looked like for that evening), and the place was gorgeous! We had lunch inside (you can also eat outside as well), and enjoyed wonderful cheeses, spreads, sandwiches, pate, and specialty pizza! We also had a lovely bottle of wine with our lunch that we selected after the tasting. Everything was so comfortable - we put in our order for lunch, then while we waited we moved over to the tasting bar for the wine tasting, and once finished, our food had arrived at the table, beautifully plated! We will definitely go back there again!
